Now I don't know the name of this God, it looked like many hands and with two lions under him/her with another person in floating position, please tell me the name of this God, if you know. Anyway I hung it up in front of my desktop, very beautiful, nice work.

Little God Ganesh can be found in the street outside the main railway station of Paharganj. The exact location is right outside the railway station, the God makers would display all the clay works there on street. Selling at very low price, unbelievable yet very skillful works by them. I grabbed nearly 10 pieces for just 140 Rupees. Tourists when come to Paharganj, please don't miss this one, absolutely local crafts. I like it so much.

While writing this down, I've been asked to give a description of the 'shop'. Truth is, it would be impossible to really describe Connaught Place. It's not so much a shopping experience, as it is an experience. Period.
Another VT tip-pointer here is to put down what makes the place so special. Walking down the paved pathways surrounding Connaught Place, eating delicious roasted peanuts bought from a street vendor, you'll be able to answer that pretty easily yourself :)
What to buy: Designer labels/ cheap second-hand goods, American eating chains/ good ol' Delhi dhaabas, vintage book shops/ roadside magazines - take your pick.
What to pay: You could end up buying a shawl from a small shop for about 700 Rupees. You could just as easily pick up a designer stole for anything upwards of 7,000 Rupees. It's that kind of place.

More importantly, there's the atmosphere. A crazy vibe centred around crazy characters - locals, foreigners, businessmen, bargain hunters.
And yet, even within this pandora's box of activities, CP throws up pockets of serenity where you can chill out beneath the shade of a tree and just take it all in.
You should give yourself a minimum of three hours to explore Connaught Place. I'm not suggesting that'll be time enough to explore all that's taking place here - for that you'll need atleast a week! But it'll be enough for you to get acquainted with the flavours of CP.

There's probably no other shopping avenue in the world which comes even close to matching the vibrant, unique encounter which is Connaught Place.
First, there's a really interesting structure which defines this Avenue. Connaught Place (popularly called CP) is a never-ending collection of shops, each located within beautiful, colonial-style buildings... rich in character and stories.
There'll easily be around a thousand shops per 'block', and the blocks are arranged alphabetically. I walked through blocks A-H, and lord knows how many more there are. You do the math!

This huge, criss-crossed maze of shops is deal & discount heaven. It's good fun walking to and fro the little gullies, with kids shouting out why their store's better than the one next door! The shops here cater mainly to women - textiles, clothes, accessories, etc. The prices can get ridiculously cheap at times - sweaters going for 25 bucks (Indian Rupees), shirts for 50 bucks, full length leather overcoats for a 1000 bucks. And then you can bring the price down even further! It's fun spending about an hour in here, jostling your way though the throngs of tourists and college students. Sarojini Market is thrift-shopping at its best.

This one's a cute little gem. A government of Delhi undertaking, Dilli Haat is a collage of art and craft from all over India. The place has been set up in a very rustic, charming manner. There are shops lining each side of a lengthy walkway which runs down the center. Dilli Haat opens at 11 in the mornings, and there's a small entrance fee to get in. It's become a favourite haunt of locals and tourists alike, all on the lookout for that special artefact. Happily for me, Dilli Haat also has a collection of another Indian treasure - food! You'll find small restaurants serving up delicious stuff from almost every part of the country!! Dig in :)
What to buy: Woolens, leather jackets and beautiful, ornate pendants from Kashmir. Fascinating religious idols, made of sandalwood and teak... crafted in the South. Gorgeous stoles and khadi kurtas, from all over the country. Each item's special in its own way.
