Agatti Island Beach: bioluminescent plankton
While at the Agatti Island Beach resort our power was out after dinner. That led us to the discovery of bioluminescent plankton. The edge of the surf was lit up with a florescent glow. When we stepped on it our feet were glowing. I took this picture of the plankton. After doing some research I found out that Bioluminescence is light produced within an organism and primarily a marine phenomenon, but you may be more familiar with it in the form of fireflies or glow worms. The light we saw was a bioluminescence that results from light-producing chemical reactions in the plankton. Wear shorts
