Of the many dance forms that are prevalent in Mizoram, the one that never fails to attract attention is the vibrant, energetic and toe-tapping ‘Cheraw’ dance or the bamboo dance. In this...

Aizawl's Taj Mahal

Aizawl's Taj Mahal, Aizawl

anilpradhanshillong Says:  There is a Taj Mahal in Aizawl. Difficult to believe but a labour of love does exist in this town. It is located some 6 kms away from the town, tucked away into one of the many ridges that make up the Durtlang hill. The road leading to this love monument is still a dirt...

Aizawl - The Journey To & Fro

Aizawl - The Journey To & Fro, Aizawl

anilpradhanshillong Says:  A blanket of forest cover greets your eye when you look down from your plane window as you touch down at the Lengpui Airport (named after the locality) or Aizawl Airport. When you look into the distance, a series of mountains ring the town. The sky is clear with the sun...

Hotel Ellora: Avoid This Hotel!

Hotel Ellora: Avoid This Hotel!, Aizawl

anilpradhanshillong Says:  Hotel Ellora on Club Road, Silchar, has only an alluring name; the premises leave much to be desired. The rooms had paint peeling off from the walls, a rudimentary pair of beds, no geysers, hotel boys in their own attire, greasy food and rudimentary service. There is no view...

Pemarin Corner: International cuisine in the heart of Aizawl

The Pemarin Corner Restaurant in Millennium Mall is a true delight. With a large dining area, colourful tablecloths, attentive staff, quick service, a discreet TV set, a variety of food to choose from (Italian, Mughali, Chinese, Mizo), this is the place to land up in after a hectic day of shopping or an outing. I sampled the spaghetti bolognese, requesting the staff to replace the beef with chicken. The dish was delicious. Others who ordered ‘chicken biryani’, were also left licking their fingers. Vegetarians who had requested for simple boiled rice, ‘daal’, mixed vegetables, ‘raita’ and roasted ‘papars’, were also equally impressed with the fare.

Meter gauge railways near Aizawl railway station

Indian railways is totally modern working on broad gauge. Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland being 95% mountainous regions, they have built meter gauge and narrow gauge railways. They are in fact, cheaper, comfortable and the journey is scenic.

Civil Hospital, Aizawl

We know that health is wealth. Donot fear. Though the North East states are not as developed as the other Indian states, but they have a good medical facility. There are many clinics and hospitals with good Indian doctors across Mizoram. Aizawl Civil Hospital is the best in entire Aizawl.
