A great restaurant. After eating those tasteless preparations of Aurobindo Ashram, this place's food tastes like heaven.
I had my first date here with a girl from Slovenia, Nada Odar!!
Favorite Dish: French fries with coffee.
Nice cozy chairs, candle lit setting. Attached garment shop with nice accessories.
Favorite Dish: Fish Soup is one of the best i have had in my life. Soup is served with bread crums and mayonise. apply lil mayonise to bread crum & let it sink in the fish soup......n then ..paradise.
Under a hudge pandal, you can get maybe the best tiger prawns and fish of pondicherry. I often go for week end in this place. You can taste red wine by only one glass, which easier for a single person. Food is tasty, not too spicy, team is helping you in the choice. A very good address for foreigners living in India, and for everybody !!!
Favorite Dish: Tiger prawn grilled with garlic and french fries.
Malabar fish curry.
Situated within walking distance from the Quartier Francais on Rue rangoupillai is Appachi, a typical South Indian Restaurant, very seldom visited by tourists . Most of the diners are Indian Men and an occasional family.
The service is good and the food is palatable but must ask for less chili to be added since chettinad cuisine is known for its fire.
Favorite Dish: Mutter Masala
A place that offered internet and coffee optons, plus it looked really interesting with intricate wood work inside, so we had to hop in. In one of those moods to click fotos of each other we were busy shuttering away when the guy at the counter admonished us and said no photography inside.. The coffee and tea we ordered was yum, they delayed the french toast, but then it was delicious, so we forgot about the wait! :)
This is such a special restaurant. The raw food theme is supremely different, in context of vegetarian of course. The food is prepared almost raw, at times you know its at least half boiled. Like the cereals or healthy rice. The veges are so tasty even they're prepared mostly raw. They mimic south indian style, so they all look very south indian thali. Try their mix vege drink. Healthy choice and have great variety for alots of cure.
Favorite Dish: Mango Idli!
In a corner, at he first floor, you can find a ugly place, but you will eat there a very good food. It is difficult to find in south India punjabi dishes, here, you will be given some which have the north indian taste with the south indian spices. If you look only for food, go, otherwise background is dirty and noisy.
Favorite Dish: Butter Chicken
This place serves up French, Indian and Italian food with such dishes as coq au vin, beef steaks and pasta from the covered courtyard of a nice colonial house and tables with rose petals on them. The foods good but the service is less so even boarding on erratic especially when I had to wait 20 minutes for a beer (not the best way to please me!). Two Indians - mother and daughter, ordered food before me and then an hour later got what they ordered! Yes, it's a busy and popular place but watch out whether or not you have to be somewhere else on time if you come to eat here. Breakfasts are also served here.
Ambience is good, but the staff just ignored me and was hovering around the tables of foreign tourists although they didnt have anything to do. I waited for 15 minutes and left the place.
The staff just ignored my hand signals for service.....
Went to Hotel Appuchi with my family yesterday. The waiters were rude and when we asked for a seat of four ,one of them asked us to go upstairs saying there was free space. We went upstairs and found the place to be full.So when i approached him again,he rudely told me he couldnt do anything. We patiently waited for a table and when the table cleared ,a group of men who were fully drunk walked in and sat in our table. These people were fully drunk and dressed only in a vest and shorts.Soon they started creating a nuisance and the manager looked helplessly. So we decided to walk out.A place to avoid going with family. Not a decent place.
Authentic south indian food, what they call the 'thali', served on a leaf.
Sorry folks I dont remember the name of this restro but as I said if you can make out from the pic ur lucky. Its an old house converted in to a restro, gr8 interiors.
Favorite Dish: I got to make my own 'paan' (betel leaf) after the meal. Ingredients are spread out at the exit door and you can add what you want.
food is good. you get authentic chettinad dishes here. you get value for money and the ambience is very simple and understated.service is very good and prompt.prices are reasonable and a great place to visit.there is variety of dishes ..one better than the other. for any traveller to pondicherry i highly recommend this place..it should be included in their itenary
Favorite Dish: fish fry n pepper chicken fry is simply awesome!
We stayed at the Banyan Tree resort and they had a busy restro, and though we did not eat any of our meals, it looked crowded with tourists, so I guess the food was good.
The food is good....esp the Indian Cuisines (when in India be an Indian :-)
The view from the restaurant-beachside-is excellent!!! the sea is very very picturesque on a nice sunny day!
