In Gapang, everyone dives. Don't! Get up late (this annoys the divers - they've been up since the cock crows), lie around on the beach, in the sea, reading, sunbathing etc etc. Have some lunch with a beer (you can get beer, despite the sharia law), then go back and have an afternoon kip, before waking up and socialising with the divers at night, telling them what a nice, chilled out day you had.
I found Busung has good potential for tourism for its beautiful landscape, beach and waterfall.People also go to this place for surfing. I like my way down to go to other villages near Busung, such as Kahat, etc. Although road condition is not so comfy, but I am happy to see waterfall only few hundred meter away from the main road and waves. People told me that the sea is now much further than before.
In one afternoon in Simeulue, I found these scene, a cow with sea as background. I just like it. This is not unusual scene in Simeulue, you can also see water buffalo take a nice dip in the river very near from the sea. It’s just a nice scene.
Although the wave is not as dramatic as in Nias island, people told me there are good areas for surfing. In Teupah Barat and Teupah Selatan, there are places nice for surfing. There is also one well-known resort name Willy’s Resort (in Busung village) which is known among the surfers.
I find Simeulue is beautiful. I love the beaches, although many places are not enjoyable for swimming because of its reefs. Most of beautiful beaches are found in Salang and Alafan sub-district. Simeulue is also surrounded by small islands. There are surprisingly people living in some of those islands.
Simeulue was famous for its cloves. When cloves price slightly declined in 1990, it ends the cloves emporium story in this island. These days, you can still see cloves are dried up in front of people’s house. I like the smell. And I do like scene of woman, cloves and the sea as shown in the picture.
As Simeulue has reefs around the island, this is a perfect place for lobster, shrimp and crabs. When you visit Simelue, your visit is not completed without having a plate of lobster. Sambai village (Teluk Dalam sub-district) is my friend’s favorite to get fresh lobster. Although you can’t expect lobster to be cooked, you can buy lobster as much as you like, then take it to near small restaurant stalls and have them cooked for you. Thanks to Agung and Linda, they have chosen the place carefully. I got nice lobster, good view and good friends.
