The Cafe is set in a beautiful garden (including a bale) directly on the beachfront. It is very inviting and relaxed. You can stay there the whole day and just watch the sea and enjoy the simple but very good and reasonable priced food and drinks. Just in front of the Cafe you can snorkel in the best snorkelling reef in the area. The water is calm and clear here. There is some accomodation and dive shops around so you can easily arrange dives from the Cafe which is providing an open-air feshwater shower in its garden (for free). Very useful if you just come from snorkelling or diving.
For dinner it's a perfect quite place too because you are directly on the beachfront and can watch the stars and listen to the ocean! Sometimes the locals arrange fish-barbecues directly on the beach. For watching the sunset over the bay and behind Mt Agung you can just climb a bit uphill from the Cafe (1 min).
The Cafe is owned and run by the local fisherman Nengah and its family (brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews, uncles - they all help there!). Stay there for a couple of hours and you'll make new friends there and learn more about Balinese life! The Cafe is not a big business, but this makes it so charming!
Nengah can also arrange some more activities like hiking in the Seraya hills, climbing Mt Agung (only during dry season from April-October), watching local dancers or even join a public ceremony. This is all privately arranged so please don't play the big demander! Just ask and keep smiling!
Favorite Dish: Have a strong local coffee for breakfast. Try the local specialities like pepes ikan (fresh fish steamed in banana leaf), fried tuna or black rice pudding.
Enjoy a cold bintang beer in the afternoon or for dinner at night! Ask for local clove cigarettes!
The fried banana (pisang goreng) is the best in Bali! Try it with ice cream. It's delicious!

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at Blue Moon. If it's not on the menu just ask!
The food is great.
The restaurant at Blue Moon is not only for hotel guests. We shared a very entertaining evening with people who had walked up from another hotel because they had heard how good the food was.
The guitars came out after dinner and everyone was encouraged to join in with the sing along. This was helped along by the "shots" that were passed around by the staff. I think it was homemade arak topped up with coke and lime juice. Very potent!! There were a few sore heads amongst the staff the next morning :)

The open-air cafe/bar at Komang Johns is also a gathering place for drinks, card games, or just conversation.
There are two low tables with cushions around them so you can set on the floor and look out over the ocean.
There are also regular table and chairs plus a small bar with bar stools.

The restaurant at the Blue Moon is called Komang John's. He is there to give you personal service and oversee the kitchen.
Breakfast is included with your villa. Evenings are quiet here, have a cocktail and enjoy the beautiful sunset. He buys fresh fish from the fishermen everyday, uses fresh herbs from the garden, and it is delicious.
You can also get your Indonesian favorites here.
