Favorite thing: When inquiring
about where to go for acupuncture in Bali,
you can select from those who have built
a reputation within the expat community, such as:
Soma Glick
or you can visit one of the few private clinics, such as:
Ubud Healing Center.
After feeling some blocked pain,
I was recommended to an older, Indo-Chinese man
that has been practicing doctor for several years.
He is a member of Ikatan Naturopatis Indonesia
Doctor Chandra is located
in the mist of the center of town
and he might not be easy to find
if you are not familiar with Denpansar.
His office is located above a warung
and you must walk through the restaurant to the back,
where you will find a stair case
that leads up to where he practices/live.
In my two different cases of which I went to see him,
I came out pleasantly surprised by
the relief of pain that he was able to achieve.
You will receive your own needles.
He prescribes Chinese Herbal Medicines.
His rates at the time of my visit were, 80,000 Rp
Hours: 9 am – 2:30 pm and 5 pm – 9 pm

Favorite thing: An Apotek in Indonesia
is a pharmacy.
The curious thing is
adjacent to most pharmacies
are also doctor’s offices.
Most doctors in Bali
will carry out their practices
during the day in hospitals.
Here you pay the hospitals
their fees to see a doctor.
But when the evening comes about,
they go to these offices for consultations
at an economical price.
So, if you don’t find yourself
in a situation which is an emergency,
and you have time to find out
where they perform consultations,
you can save quite a bit on a consultation fee.

Favorite thing: Before entering an operation
a blood test will be done
to test how quickly your blood clots.
For an operation,
it’s better that your blood clots quickly.
But once you’ve had the operation,
then the situation can change.
If you’re sitting or laying
in one position for prolonged periods of time,
like when wearing a cast,
which was my case
before I left to get an operation,
then you may be at risk of forming a blood clot.
After an operation,
you may go through a prolonged period
with a lack of exercise
which will also put you at risk.
Blood clots are responsible for
strokes, heart attacks, and pulmonary embolism.
Because of this intense danger,
conventional physicians prescribe
a number of powerful drugs to prevent blood clots.
But these drugs have dangers of their own;
if their use is not closely monitored,
they may cause serious bleeding and even death.
Frequent blood testing was required of me
to make sure not only if I was not being put
at increased risk of bleeding from the medications,
but to try and find what would be the right dose
which may take some time in certain patients.
The laboratory in Bali for blood tests is:
Prodia
Jl. Diponegoro 192
Denpasar
Tel. 0361-261-001
The cost for a Hematology/Protromin Time
was 225,000 Rp at the time of my visit.
The also do house calls,
but then that same test runs at 395,000 Rp
They offer all sorts of blood tests,
including testing related to Dengue Fever,
pregnancy testing, STDs, etc.
Because the effects of the medication/anticoagulants
used for anti-clotting are known to be
highly variable within each individual,
it is essential that a physician regularly monitors the patient.
In Bangkok, it was a Hematologist,
but in Bali, one needs to resolve to a Cardio Vascular surgeon.
The surgeon I found, Dr. Ketut Putu Yasa practices at Sanglah,
but also conducts consultations on Monday/Wednesdays and Fridays
from 8 pm for 150,000 Rp per consultation at:
Poli RSU Puri Raharja
Jl. WR Supratman 14-19
Denpasar

Favorite thing: Meeting Gede has been healing experience.
As young as he may be,
his wisdom runs deep after
4 years of studies in physiotherapy.
Unlike other physiotherapists,
he takes his time…long time,
in assisting you to heal.
This includes deep tissue massages in the fractured area,
and exercises for the ligaments, muscles, etc.
His rate is also reasonable for house calls,
allowing you to have them frequently.

Favorite thing: Physiotherapy
After any kind of bone fracture,
physiotherapy is a part of the healing.
I was first referred to the physiotherapist
Dr. Murniari Danun,
but wasn’t able to find his contact number.
So, I was then referred by the:
Puri Raharja Medical Center
WR Supratman 14-19
Denpasar
Tel. 0361- 222 013 / 229 118
to Dr. Dedy Silakarma
Apotek Anugrah
Jl. Panmura No 57
Denpasar
Tel. 0361-231-215 / 081-2388-4896
His hours are after 7:30 pm.
He has the ultra-sound machine.
Massages along with recommended
exercises were implemented.
Sessions cost at the time of my visit
between 100,000-150,000 Rp.
The assistant (Gede) that
he had at the time of my treatment,
was excellent!!!
Despite the little English he spoke,
he sure was did know his stuff!!!
He was trained in a specialized
physiotherapy school in Surabaya.
I even hired him for house calls,
where we did extensive sessions.
Gede
Tel. 087 860 812 221
I was also referred to the Massage Therapist,
Ketut Putrawan.
He was trained in Australia.
His English is excellent.
His prices are more expensive
than the therapists mentioned above,
but he does do house calls.
His rate at the time of his visit was 250,000 Rp for an hour.
For a minor sport injury, he may be a choice.
But I opted to continue my treatment with Gede/Dr Dedi,
since I needed physiotherapy to heal my broken leg,
which had gone under surgery.

Favorite thing: The people and cultre of Bali are truly fascinating. We have never met a more religious group of people than Balinese, they pray eveyrday, the women prepare beautiful handmade canang offerings to their God, they like to put on their traditional attire anytime anywhere, we find this very rare anywhere in the world now.
Fondest memory: We saw lovely little children taking their traditonal dance classes at Ubud palace in the afternoon, they seem not to be intimidated by the hundreds of tourists watching them there. It is good to see such a beautiful cultre being preserved and maintained.
We also saw a group of middle aged women took their gamela lesson at the palace too, this provide a free opportunity for us to listen to their special music.

Favorite thing: Lanef,
When you go to Bali, please visit Benoa beach in Nusa Dua. Mostly in Nusa Dua you can find interresting places ad activities. Have dinner at Jimbaran beach. Then you can come to Kuta. You may want to see Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) for a night art attraction like Balinese dance called Kecak. You can't miss Tanah Lot, Bedugul, Uluwatu, Sangeh (where you can feed the monkeys in their nature) and Ubud.
Hope this will help. Whenever you have questions, I'll be happy to answer.
Greetings from Indonesia!

Favorite thing: Hi,
I don't think the wedding organizer can guarantee your wedding will be far from people, if you planned the ceremony in public beach such as Dreamland, Jimbaran or Kuta Beach. I am more suggesting that you may review some options getting married in a private villa that overlooking the ocean with a backdrop of sunset. There, you can minimize crowded and I am sure you will have a private ceremony ever.
Have you thinking getting married in Lovina Beach? This is can be an alternative. It's in north Bali(about 2,5 hours from Denpasar Airport). The beach is quiet and the sunset is awesome. This is an opposite of what Kuta Beach offers. You'll find some private villas overlooking the beach offered in this location too.

Favorite thing: Construction in Bali,
can be an immense night mare!!
The list is long,
of unexpected surprises that
can come up and bite you in the a**!
But once it’s done,
the rewards of a new comfy home
can be very gratifying.
And then there is the other side of the coin,
in seeing all the abusive and
non-conscious construction going on.
From paying off officials to break the rules,
sewage waste going into the rivers and sea,
unsafe construction,
poor electrical installations that
can cause a fire to burn down your home,
etc, etc, etc.
Lately, there has been a lot of noise
from certain groups to control this.
There is some good and bad in this.
Good in halting and slowing down
the process of some of these
greedy developers looking to make a buck,
and then there is the fear it is creating for
those who have already built.
