THIS WAS A MUST STOP AND TAKE PICTURE MOMENT...THIS MOUNTAIN RANGE AND THE AMAZING FRONT PART OF THE LANDSCAPE OF RICEFIELDS WAS SUPER BEAUTIFUL.........: ) REALLY COOL TO SEE AN AREA ON BALI WITH VOLCANOES !! I THINK THE VOLCANO IN 1963 KILLED TWO PEOPLE........ .Batur, considered sacred by the Balinese, is a fairly easy journey up one of the world's most active volcanos leading to a strange pristine wilderness. AND THERE ARE TOURS THAT CAN GO UP ONTO THE MOUNT IF ONE IS INTERESTED..???

Drive up to Kintamani for a good view of the active volcano Agung. Enjoy lunch at the peak whilst peering out at the crater lake and black volcanic soil at the foot of the volcano. The drive to the peak passes through fruit orchards and rustic scenary. You could also stop by to purchase fruits from the roadside hawkers (try the local specialty "makisa" aka passion fruit).

    Kintamani Volcano and Lake Batur

It is about 2PM when we arrive in Kintamani . We’re lucky to have a clear view of the volcano called Mount Batur. It is often lost in the clouds. The last time it erupted was in the 1960’s and the path of volcanic ash can still be seen . We’re told that smoke is visible in the evenings , reminding all of its imminent powers.

The clear blue waters of Lake Batur making the whole scene quite breathtaking and highlight the volcano in the distance. Lake Batur, an old crater of Mount Batur is the largest freshwater lake in Bali.
