    International Drivers License

by balisunshine Updated Jun 30, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you plan to rent a vespa, motorbike, or a car
get an International Drivers License BEFORE you leave home.

You can go to the police/transportation office in Bali
    but there are fees,
    lines to wait in
and plenty of paper work to do,
if not also dealing with corruption
and it’s just easier to go to
    your local AAA office
    and within minutes
you will have an International Drivers License valid for a year
and valid in most parts in the world
    except at home.

Don’t count on just using your home
    Drivers License.
You can count on being stopped
    by the police
    who scour the streets
    for tourist making this mistake,
so that they can make an extra buck.

    If you're in Miami
    you can visit AAA at:

    6101 Sunset Drive SW
    South Miami, Fl.

A Ticket to Asia from Bali

by balisunshine Updated Sep 7, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

It was time to venture onto
    other parts of Asia.

And so I began with my inquiries,
for an open-jaw plane ticket having the flexibility
to change dates from and to:
    Bali-Shanghai-Bangkok-Singapore-Bali

I first started via the internet
and then called a few travel agents.

    After viewing a $350 promotional
Hong Kong plane ticket and hotel package
    in the Bali Advertiser,
my first choice was to phone:

    KCBJ Tours & Travel agents
    on Jalan Raya Kuta 127
    Tel. (361) 751 517
    E-mail: purwa@kcb-tours.com
    E-mail: inbound@kcb-tours.com
    www.kcb-tours.com

After quoting me an $800 airfare,
    I left my pone number
    asking to be notified if
a cheaper rate could be found.

I never heard back from them again.

    Later, while visiting Sanur,
I stopped by and spoke to Lina at:

    Vayatour
Jalan By Pass Ngurah Rai #143
    Sanur
    Tel: (361) 285555
    E-mail: vayatour@vayatourbali.com

who within minutes was able to provide
me with a $675 airfare rate including taxes,
    valid for 3 months
and flying mostly on Cathay Pacific.

    So I left content,
but then later to be frustrated
while calling them various times on the phone
and not being able to get through.

    I sent Lina an e-mail,
    and she quickly replied back.

Then I decided to also give Nyoman at:

    Golden Kris Tours
    Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai #87X
    Sanur
    Tel. (361) 89225

    a try.

    They were assessable by phone,
    calling me back several times
with various answers to my different requests.

Through them I was able to get
the same ticket as Vaya Tour
    at a slightly lower price
    and with better customer assistance.

1 year open return tickets to Bali from the US

by balisunshine Written Apr 22, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you hop over the hurdle
of the limited 30 day tourist visa to travel to Bali,
the next hurdle may be obtaining an open return ticket
at an affordable price from the US.

Most special airfares are limited from 30 days and if you are lucky,
    MAYBE 6 months.

So finding that open return ticket can be a bit of a struggle.

In my research, I found consolidators to be the best way.
I recommend paying by credit card,
since most of these consolidators are usually in another state
and in a way, if any problems you can dispute it.

The following is a listing of those I found:

Apex Travel 1-800-203-0660 is where I bought mine.
I got my ticket for about $1,200 open return for 1 year.
    Ask for Paula or Ops.

    Indonesian Natraba 1-800-628-7228

    AVIA 1800-950-2842

    Good luck!!!

Welcome to the land of the Gods!

    Airport taxi

by easterntrekker Written Aug 7, 2011

It cost 90000RM ( $11.00) to sanur. Fees are clearly posted and you must pay in advance. We had a very cheerful driver and in about 30 minutes we're at our hotel .

There are ATMS at the airport.

For a great driver contact MADE (pronounced mah-day) Wardana. For a great price he took me from Kuta to Ubud and showed me all the important sites, a great restaurant, and he helped me to see part of a Traditional Balinese funeral. Not just this but he shared all about his culture and traditions. you can reach him through Bali Pesona Wisata (0361) 480348
