Indonesian Currency

by hayley_69

Bali's currency is the Indonesian Rupiah. (Rp)Rupiah comes in denominations of:Rp100,000 (note)Rp50,000 (note)Rp20,000 (note)Rp10,000 (note)Rp5,000 (note)Rp1,000 (note plus also comes in coin form)Rp500 (note plus also comes in coin form)Rp100 (note plus also comes in coin form)Rp50 (coin)Rp25 (coin)Also of the notes have different pictures but are clearly written with the amount on it big enough to know how much the note is worth, so you dont need to worry and find out how much that note or coin is worth. Also beware as stated alot of notes and coins have different pictures on them as they mix some of the old notes with the new notes as old notes are still useable.

MONUMENT OF BALI 12 OCT 2002

by ancient_traveler

A day of terror as deradly bombs exploded at two of Bali’s busiest night spot on Legian streer. The shameless acts of terror, killed and maimed innocent people and took the lives of more than 200 persons, mostly tourist. The culture and idealism of the wonderful people of Bali will never allow such acts of cowardice to overcome their core beliefs of peace, love, respect and tolerance for all things good.

Woman Travel Alone

by Rinjani

I can say that Bali is pretty safe for woman traveller, even when they are alone. I travelled alone to Bali. Yes, there was question why I travelled alone, especially it is not really common for Indonesian. But, I have good treatment and I could say I was pretty free from any kind of harrashment. Even if there were guys approaching me, mostly they were trying to sell something, but it’s pretty safe. You can wear your bikini in Kuta, Nusa Dua or pretty skimpy dress when you walk around Kuta, Legian or Nusa Dua. When you travel to other places, tank top is considerably fine. But, when you go to Pura or villages, it would be wise if you dress not so revealing. The community are usually fine, but it would be still good to be good guest, especially when you enter Pura, Hindu’s holy place.

Organized Tours

by Rinjani

There are so many small and big travel companies offering their packages. It is so many packages to choose. You can find different route Bali sightseeing tours from 8 to 12 hours. Other packages are cycling tour, water sports, rafting, trekking, art and cultural. Price is usually based on two persons (since I travel alone, I am usually rejected) Price varies, usually starting from Rp 180,000 (USD 20). The transportation is usually mini van or mini bus that can carry 6 to 8 people. Using organized tour is a good option for those who have less time to explore Bali. The downside is….this is sooo similar route and time is limited to experience more.

Good Guide Makes Your Travel Different

by Rinjani

I have been blessed that I met good guides in my travel to Bali. They are all good guides and offer many insider informations that enriching my knowledge about daily life in Bali. But some people may not as lucky as me. With tourism as one of the most selling points in Bali, in almost every tourism spots in bali, there is a person offer you their service to be a guide. It’s like a jackpot sometimes. The wannabe guides can be bothered you with determination, money orientation and less knowledge. Big travel companies usually have good guides, but they are also pricey. If you wish to be independent, but need information more than is written in the books, having a local friend or at least get in touch with Balinese friends are usually helpful. Again, I am so lucky to meet Tut Nik, who is patient but passionately explaining Bali from his own daily life. He also took me to his villages to...

Bali in the Wrap Up Part II

by Rinjani

Luxury and Budget TravelLuxury is also things easily to find in Bali. Luxury five stars hotels, boutique hotels, world class restaurants and spas, superb comfort cruising and other luxury activities are there to experience for people who don’t have problem with spending.But….the fair share also goes to moderate budget traveller to shoestring budget traveller who wish to enjoy the travel without hurting the budget. Great variety of homestays, losmen (lowest class of accommodation, usually people offer their room to stay for a very cheap price) and if you have a local friend, you can also get offer to stay one or two nights in their home. Although, the last cathegory didn’t ask for payment, but it’s always good to offer or ask them politely to pay, even with few amounts. Food for moderate to budget travllers also very affordable. Many offers western option. Arty PeopleArt lovers will find...
