Generally safe, but...
Bali has been the island with less violence during the past turbulent period in Indonesia (1998-today). Ofcourse last weekend's terrorist blast justifies the fears of all western governments that urge their nationals to evacuate the island and the country...
It will take some time til the situation normalises, but Indonesian authorities have all reasons to increase securaty and gain control of the groups that probably executed this terrible terrorist attack.
But remember that a single act doesn't mean Indonesia is dangeraous for ever. Would u regard it as so dangerous to fly to New york today, just a year after attack on the Twin Towers???
Locals selling various stuff
While you are enjoying your seafood, be prepared to be harassed by locals trying to sell you various stuff ranging from toys, kites to clothes. They can be quite persistence, so be prepared to have some patience when trying to get rid of them.
