Karangasem Tourist Traps

While staying at Candi Dasa,
one of the best beaches to visit is White Beach.

You can pay to be taken by boat,
or drive there.

When driving,
upon arrival,
you will encounter the 2,000 Rh p.p. toll,
and then your on your way.

Or at least that may be what you think.

You will encounter a useless sign that says 'White Beach'
which would lead you to believe to follow the road that goes towards the water.

That same road becomes a dirt road,
and before you know it??
it's straight down hill.

So the logical thing would be to stop
and put it in reverse.
Well,
this same dirt road soon becomes a booby trap,
while your car may surely get stuck.

The same 'toll' man will offer assistance at 500,000 Rp at least,
along with two other men.

Apparently, this is a common mistake taken by tourist driving on their own.

When I asked the 'toll' man why there was not some kind of signage
indicating the correct wa...all I got was a laugh.

The actual road to White Beach does not look like a road at all.
But rather a dirt ramp, sidewalk.

So when visiting White Beach....make sure to take the road that doesn't look like one.
