Poppies Lane 2 Souvenir Shops: Souvenir Shops at Poppies Lane 2

by machomikemd Written Jan 16, 2014
    4 more images

since poppies lane 1 and 2 are the back packers alley of Kuta and Bali, there are lots of souvenir shops and local handicraft shops along this narrow and long alley that sells everything that a tourist would buy like leather items, t-shirts, beach wear, bali themed items, fridge magnets, shot glass, paper weights, post cards, books and evenb magic mushrooms to name a few. shopping around here is fun but haggling is a must and if you are not good at haggling, it is best to buy the souvenir items at Discovery Mall in JL Kartika Plaza as prices of the same items are generally cheaper there than in here, even after haggling!

shops here are open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm everyday

What to buy: all the touristy items that you commonly buy

What to pay: don't buy here if you are not good at haggling or just buy the same items at Discovery Mall in JL Kartika Plaza as they are cheaper there, even after haggling!

Discovery Shopping Mall: Big Shopping Mall in Kuta

by machomikemd Written Jan 16, 2014
    4 more images

this will be my shopping tips for the mall.

Discovery Shopping Mall is the favorite of tourists who want to buy local handicrafts and souvenirs at quality and cheap prices and without the usual haggling along the stores in Jalan Legian, Jalan Pantai Kuta and Jalan Raya Kuta and shops at Poppies Lane 1 and 2, as these shops have higher prices even if you already haggled with them. there is one whole side in the mall dedicated to the buying of all things local like paintings and local crafts and arts and souvenir items which are way cheaper than the oleh oleh souvenir shops around bali!

the more luxe but more expensive mall is located along JL Pantai Kuta, the Beachwalk Mall

Discovery Mall Bali is located along Jalan Kartika Plaza, the main road going to Ngurah Rai International Airport from Kuta and lies across the Waterbom Park and Kuta Center. The mall is one of the largest in Bali and has 3 floors and has a beachside entrance and amphitheater along it's side of Kuta Beach (even a large San Miguel Beer and Carlsberg Beer Christmas Tree at the front and beach side entrances as of December 2013). there are lots of both local and international brands and restaurants and bars in this huge mall and is a favorite of tourists in Kuta. among the tenants here include: Haagen Dazs, Mayang Suki & Pancake, Black Canyon Coffee, Fruiti Ice, Roti Boy, New York Sports Bar, Coco Bistro, BreadTalk, Burger King, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Cold Stone Creamery ice cream and Starbucks to name a few.

    Opens: Sun - Thu 10:00 am – 10:00 pm, Fri - Sat 10:00 am - 10.30 pm

What to buy: both international and local brands but the best buy here is the local arts and crafts and souvenir items, which you can get by mall prices, which are generally cheaper than haggling for them at the souvenir shops around kuta and at the oleh oleh shops.

    among the shops here include:

Haagen Dazs, Mayang Suki & Pancake, Black Canyon Coffee, Fruiti Ice, Roti Boy, New York Sports Bar, Coco Bistro, BreadTalk, Sour Sally, Baskin’ & Robbins, Aneka Citra Snack, Sugar Mama's, Es Teler 77, A&W Restaurant, Baroque Café, Warung Bumbu, Segara Fresh Seafood, Oceans 27, and the Celcius Café, Sogo, Centro and Batik Keris where you can find quality Indonesian batik. Fashion outlets include The Boutique, Polo, Surfer Girl, Osh Kosh, CKF, Rara Boutique, Nautica, DC, Quiksilver, Bin House, Body N' Soul, Bamboo Blonde, Billabong, 1 2 6, Hurley, La-Senza, Guess, Esprit, Giordano, Shine, Guess Accessories, Crocs, The Little Things She Needs, Puma, Skeechers, Super, Sole Effect, Adidas, Nike, Everbest, Sanuk, Sheila Namira, Milano, Sun Hour and a lot more!

Polo Ralph Lauren: Sale all the time...

One of the many Ralph Lauren shop around Kuta

You can find many Polo Ralph Lauren shops here. They had sales up to 70% discounts. I didn't buy any...I got 'originality' issue never sorted out till the last day of my trip.

There're also D&G shops...few of them. For those who're into surf brands...you'll find Rip Curl, Rusty, Billabong and Quiksilver all around Kuta.

Discovery Kartika Plaza Shopping Mall: Shopping mall by the beach

by Arfah Written Jul 14, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Discovery Kartika Plaza Shopping Mall

It's a big shopping mall with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants with wonderful view of the ocean. From the beach you can walk to the mall...and the other way around. The shops here are similar to any shopping mall...there's a Sogo here selling the usual brands.

There's are two big souvenirs/crafts shop located here...one was Keris something and I can't remember the other one. Both sell almost the same thing...but I found prices of souvenirs/crafts sold at the Keris shop was slightly cheaper...things were also arranged much nicer than the other shop. You can find good quality of Bali t-shirts here at this Keris shop.

I also had the chance dropping by at this stall/kiosk selling many Bali t-shirts with a very reasonable price...the quality of fabric was acceptable too. It's located on the ground/concourse level...right in the middle...near to the escalator.

Matahari Department Store: Variety of souvenirs with reasonable price

by Arfah Updated Jul 14, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Matahari Department Store...

The only thing I like about this place...it has a wide variety of souvenirs and crafts to choose from...and they're sold at a quite reasonable price. For those who're too lazy to walk around outside at the street shopping area...and for a last minute souvenir/crafts shopping...this would be a good place. No doubt you can get souvenirs and crafts much cheaper outside...but for a department store...prices here are quite ok and you get to shop in comfort as well.

What to buy: Well, according to the locals...whatever sold in Kuta can also be found in other places around Bali as well. I was in Ubud earlier...all the stuff sold in Kuta...I've seen them in Ubud and sold at a much cheaper price. I believe for the ladies...you should buy hair clips with a big flower on it. Flower of the clips come in many colours...white, yellow, purple and pink. I bought them all...each was only Rp10,000 at Matahari. Outside shops sold cheaper but they don't look so nice.
