During my stay in Kuta, in the outskirts of Legian, i saw this Balinese ritual. It was very colorful but quite scary. i don´t know the name of the celebration or the meaning, i was the only western in the area. Someone in the hotel told me that maybe it could be the "Melasti" a purification festival. During the ceremony the villagers dress their finest clothes, and take the offerings and gods to the sea, shouting, singing and playing drums. This is more or less what i saw...Maybe someone could correct me.

if you always one to have one but too afraid with the pain and commitment with the real one, you can get the temporary tatoo.
just wait on the beach, there will be some people carrying plastic folder filled with all kind of drawing you can choose.

Kuta and Legian
Practically on the opposite side of Sanur, the beaches of Kuta and Legian stretch on the southwestern side of Bali, again only about 5 to 10 minute drive from Denpasar or the airport. Surfing is a major activity in these beaches. Shops, Kecak dance performances, pubs, and other facilities make Kuta a tourist mecca.
Jimbaran
Jimbaran is directly south of the airport, on the way from Denpasar towards Nusa Dua. The village of Jimbaran is the narrow neck of the island of Bali, and thus it has two remarkably different beaches. On the west, Jimbaran Beach faces the Jimbaran Bay, recently lined by new luxurious resorts. On the east, the beach faces the body of water sheltered by Benoa Harbor.
Nusa Dua
Nusa Dua is a new luxurious resort area where the world's most sumptuous hotels gracefully integrate into the beautiful white beaches. Crystal clear water provides excellent snorkeling and diving site, and the waves on the northern and the southern part of Nusa Dua allow for great surfing opportunity.
Soka Beach
Further northwest from Denpasar, on the way to Gilimanuk, the ferry port town that connects Bali and Java, there is a small quiet beach called Soka Beach.
Medewi Beach
Continuing along the path towards Gilimanuk, near the village of Pulukan, the beach of Medewi is another beautiful beach.
Lovina Beach
Near the northern tip of the island of Bali lies a stretch of villages by the Bali Sea. Lovina Beach is the name. It is well known as an excellent site for sunset watching, snorkeling, and diving. Night life activities are also abound, as well as chartered boats to go out into the sea. If you like what Kuta offers but do not like the crowd, Lovina Beach is for you.

Spa is pretty inexpensive if you can find the right one in Bali. We went to this place called Secret Garden Hair and Body Spa.
Found this spa online and booked an appointment.
We had java lulur scrub, followed by a massage, Flower Bath, Facial, Mani and Pedi and ending with a hair cut. All these for about 620,000Rp for both.

Bali has a lot of temples, lakes, mountains, beaches and all sorts of tourist attractions to visit. By renting a car with a chauffeur you can tour Bali by yourself. There are plenty of routes to choose from. From Kuta, you can follow the western side of Bali to Gilimanuk. Or you can follow the eastern side to Amlapura. I myself did 2 routes. One of the route was Kuta, Denpasar, Mengwi, Sangeh and then up to Bedugul. The other was Kuta, Denpasar, Ubud, Tampaksiring, Besakih and then back west to Kintamani. The drive itself is worth it. You get to see the farmlands of Bali, temples, gardens, forrests, mountains, lakes and other beautiful sceneries. You can sit back, relax and enjoy the view.

doing the usual tourist trip up to kintamani was getting a bit old after the 4th time I'd been to bali, so I decided to try something new by going mountain biking. I found this was by far the best way to see the real bali! In the morning the tour group picked us up from our hotel and drove us up to kintamani for a beautiful breakfast before they took us a bit further along to the meeting point where we met up with our guide. He ended up taking us down the volcano through the baboo forrests and the lush green rice paddys, small jungle trails and then towards the town of ubud, as we went riding through the streets of ubud we were also shown the president's lodgings when he visits bali, going through the streets of ubud was a bit scary with all the traffic but being able to interact with the children and locals was the best thing i ever did!
