The temple was built by I Gusti Agung Anom, a founder of the Mengwi kingdom in 1934, and were skilfully and renovated in later years, giving its present appearance which tourists find so attractive and interesting.
The name itself means beautiful garden.
It is built on a high tableland which is surrounded by ponds.
This gives the effect from afar that the temple is floating on water.

The first part of our tour was to stop at Pura Taman Ayun temple. I was very impressed . Taman Ayun refers to a huge open space (ayun) representing a garden (taman). It is surrounded by a moat with lotuses.
It is one of the group of state temples that is supported by state funding.
If you can visit on its odalan (birthday ) festival, it is a spectacular sight.

Sangeh is a villange in the north of Denpasar. The hundered of holy monkeys is live in large nutmeg forest (about 14 hectare)
Its also called The white monkey "Hanoman", the name taken from Ramayana tale.
