Paddy's 2: Beware the Jungle Juice

by Jessiejoojar

Paddy's 2 is great fun. We spent New Year's Eve '04/'05 there and had an unforgettable night! Its always a fun place to head out to no matter what time of the year.New year's eve however was something special. Bubbles, flowers and confetti fell from the roof at 12pm, on the heads of many different nationalities all mingling in one big partying mass. Australians, Europeans, Asians and ofcourse Indos. We met them all that night and it was a fabulous way to bring in the new year. Thongs are the standard, and light/cool clothing, as it does get hot in there!

Ku De Ta: Great Sunset Fun

by TravelSimone

Ku De Ta is "The" place to go in Seminyak to watch the sunsets. It is a restaurant, bar and sun lounge spot right on the water. The people start arriving to get a great spot anytime after 5:00. In Bali (generally) the sunsets are at ~6:15 (give or take 12 minutes depending upon the time of year).Music will be playing and people generally order cocktails and appetizers. They also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.I always drink the Purple Hazes (a vodka martini type of drink, but it is more sweet). The only drawback to Ku De Ta is that it is ridiculously expensive. You would think they were located on the beach in Hawaii. A vodka cocktail costs ~70,000Rp. The dress is generally casual at Ku De Ta, but you will sometimes see women decked out in dresses and jewels along with others in t-shirts and shorts. My photo will give you an idea.

The Bounty Ship: The best time in Kuta Square

by josepontes

The service there is great, and you can meet a lot of local people, much girls :-) it's just great.... I spend a big time there, it was there were I meet my friends, from Bali! I can dress has you like, no problem with anything, but I will recommend shorts, t-shirt and sandals! Like normally in that country, it's a little bit hot, eaven when it's raining. The Bounty has air condition!

Kupu Barong: Immersed in Culture

by Homanded

Wonderful back drop for a taste of Cultural Dances. The Kecak dance show, unique in that no music is provided other than the harmonized "Accopella" accompanyment of group chanting by a tribe of dancers portraying Magical Monkeys.Truly amazing and easy to lose yourself in the rythm. Not to be missed. Tickets are readily available but reservation is suggested. Your hotel should be able to arrange for you. Note: Best to do dinner after show as show begins at 7:30 lasting about 1 1/2 hours. Casual, jeans/shirt - shorts and T's appropiate. Water / Beer & Cold drinks available at the door.

Espresso Bar: Espresso Bar

by bryINpoland

We couldnt help but stop in at the Espresso Bar, it was packed out the door, and pretty much the only place happening that Monday night. The live music was pumpin, with the band playing on the side walk, facing into the bar. Anyone who could play the drums, or the guitar was encouraged to come up, and play a song with the band, and quite a few actually did .There is a band on every night, from 8pm til' about 1am , or until you stop tipping,The bar wasnt very big, or atleast felt that way since it was so cramed with people. The service was good, and the little Balinese waitress was cute. Or maybe it was the Bintang effecting my better judgement. The Bar is located just across from Paddy's Bar, on Jalan Legian, between Poppies Lane I and Poppies Lane II. Its hard to miss with the band half blocking the sidewalk.I highly recommend the bar to anyone looking to kick back to some good rock and...

Paddy's Bar: Paddy's Bar

by bryINpoland

Paddy's Bar is located on Jalan Legian, between Poppies Lane II and Poppies Lane I in Kuta. The bar is a popular spot for visiting Australians, and can get very crowded during the late hours of the night.Paddy's Bar has always been a popular drinking spot for westerners, and that is why it was one of the 2 bars targeted in the 2002 bombings. On Oct 12, 2002 the first of the 3 bombs set off in Bali was detonated on the first floor of Paddy's Bar killing people in the immediate area, and setting parts of the bar ablaze. 15 seconds later, a second bomb went off across the street at the also popular Sari Club. In total, 202 people died in the explotons, 88 of them being from Australia.Today, Paddys Bar has been relocated just a block down the street from its original location. It has a new look, and a great atmosphere. Entry into the bar is free, and so are the hangovers.Westerners and...

Your nearest Swimming Pool: Have a Late Night Swim

by Wild_Orchid

It was very hot each day that we were in Bali as the rainy season was late to arrive this year. Not being sun-worshippers and to avoid the risk of sunburn, we went for nightly swims with our kids at our resort pool. They are just learning to swim and it was a good time to do so because on most evenings, the pool would be deserted. As long as the area is brightly lit, and the depth of the pool is safe for your kids, there should be nothing to stop you from having a lovely time having a leisurely swim in the waters that have become deliciously warm from the heat of the day. Try it, you will certainly love to do it again, and again! If conditions are right, a glass of red wine might add to the ambiance of the evening... Don't think you need me to tell you what to wear when going swimming, do you? : D

Kuta Streets: Night Walks at Town

by samantha_chee

People watching is great. We just walk around on the street. Stop by any souvenir shop for a stroll, then move on.There are two very friendly attendants at K-Mart, eMade and Komang. We chat with them after we bought some Cokes there... Casual, shorts and t-shirts are good.
