...: what to do at night

by iam1wthee

In Mas there really isn't much nightlife outside of the traditional dances performed in some of the theaters and very few night clubs that mostly play jazz. The more modern youthful music is found in Kuta. casual is the way to go it is too hot to dress up.

Conga Club: Dancin'

by Denay

This nightclub had four stories! The bottom floor had crazy lights and you could feel the bass from the dancing upstairs. And upstairs...a lot of dancing fools! We went with two Indonesian locals, who had to pay cover, but free for the foreigners, which was great for us, but kind of "mean", I thought for the locals. No dress code that I know of, but from what I saw, the less dressed, the better!

Goes Art Bar: Jammin'

by Denay

We came upon this little place by accident...we were starving for Arak...and happened upon the Goes Art. The owner came around, grabbed a guitar, sat at our table with us and sang us some Shaggy, Blondie, and that guy with the dredlocks (alright, Bob Marley for those who aren't on a familiar basis)We became regulars during our stay and during that time locals would come off the street, the waitress would bring them a drink and guitar and they would all sit and have a good old jamming session! Come as you are!

The Sari Club: They cant take away our memories...

by leebee1

On October 12th 2002, Bali was changed forever. There is no direspect intended to the victims and their families. I realise the Sari Club has a special place in many people hearts, for very different reasons. However, I feel my Bali pages incomplete without the inclusion of the Sari Club and remembering a time that was. It is with some trepidation that I write this tip. Reminiscing about the good times brings a smile to my face, but equally it fills me with sadness."There was a time when you could turn up at the club any night of the week at any time, to find a crowd. Of course, mostly Australians :) Everyone in minimal attire to beat the heat! It seemed the thing to do was to get your jungle juice, and I'm sure many people who frequented the club would agree, that that stuff was an experience in itself. The atmosphere was catching and the scene was certainly set for a good time, and of...

Milaosix Cafe: A Quiet Drink or late Supper

by Wild_Orchid

A nice spot located in front of Hotel Intercontinental, we went there practically every night to have dinner or for a quick drink. With only 5 tables, it had a steady stream of customers, some locals, and some tourists staying at nearby hotels.Cocktails with cool names (eg. Sex with Honey, Tequilla Sunset) were from 5,000-6,000 rupiahs, Bottle of Beer from 7,500 rupiahs, bottled soft drinks at 2,000 rupiahs (a good deal indeed, because the cans were being sold at the store next door at 4,000 rupiahs!) You'll fit right in with casual clothes such as shorts and t-shirts.Opening Hours: from 11 am till midnight or so. Sunset at Jimbaran Beach: Greet the night in Silence

by Wild_Orchid

A good way to end a tiring day at the beach is to sit on the beach and gaze out into the sea. Give a word of thanks to God above for all the bountiful things he has granted you. Let us not take our family, friends (and VT friends) and our health for granted. Breath in deeply and know that peace is to be yours, if you want it. Namaste. Casual or beach wear. Relax and enjoy.

Kuta Beach: Evening falls rapidly on Kuta Beach

by Wild_Orchid

Take in the sunset at Kuta Beach. This happens at around 6pm each evening. The life guard blows his whistle and everyone has to stop surfing and swimming. By 6.30 pm, it turns dark (see pics) and the beach would be practically deserted, but a few continue to linger on to have some quiet moments of solitude and reflection on Kuta Beach.

Jalan Dyanapura: Salsa dancing

by pianomany2k

Salsa dancing is very popular in Bali as well as the regular disco scene and salsa bands play at various clubs on Jalan Dyanapura (Gado-Gado st.) 2-3 times a week. Salsa music but little dancing can be heard at JPs bar (check their schedule on the wall). No dress code since it is right across the road from the beach and open to the night air. You might feel a bit self concious in shorts however since most of the locals and expats are dressed to the teeth.

Embargo: Soul / Hip Hop Club

by PelLihi

The Embargo Bar is a nice spot to start the night off at least if you like Soul and Hip Hop music. They show music vids on a big screen. The booze is really cheap. One tip: Be aware of too nice and easy local girls if you know what I mean! ;-) None
