Part II

Basic equipment you need such as personal medicine, sunscreen, tan lotion for sun tanner (I carried traditional herb mask to overcome my skin after sun burnt), small bottle of hand sanitizer that come in handy when you need it, wet tissue (it’s very useful, since in some places it is needed when you go to toilet, I usually carry a small bottle of water for toilet purpose for the similar reason) If you opt for jungle trek, it’s always wise to bring more medicine, such as dextamine in case if you develop allergy for bee sting, betadine, handyplast and lotion for insect bite. Mosquito repellant is always useful. If you are into water activities, bring your own google or snorkel are always useful. But, surfing board is not necessary, it is available for renting, unless if you develop bonding with your own board. Some people carry condom with them. They said you never know where you are...

What to pack when you go to Bali?

by Rinjani

Packing is an art, at least for me. I usually stuffed my bag only to find that I need more space for my shopping activity. Sometimes I carry too much, but many times I pack so few …and it’s a good reason to shop : )Dear fellow, a good suggestion for you, although you are not into shopping, and although I vowed that I would not shop, just simply sightseeing, usually it is wiser to give space in your bag for new stuffs you found in Bali. Some people I met in Bali made bet to amuse themselves whether the guest that they accompanied can resist themselves from shopping….usually it’s fruitful for those who bet for “shopping” What to pack?Since I combine both mountain and beach in my travel wish list, I brought both stuffs that suitable for that. I brought my trekking shoes as well as pretty flip flop. A warm pullover and raincoat, comfy trouser and day backpack. But also I equipped myself...

Underwear and Deodrant!

by Laurs

A big suitcase to put all your purchases in.Usual hand luggage.A money belt type bag to use in Bali. Light weight clothing. We take very little as clothes are so cheap in Bali we buy as we go.Underwear is not great --fiit -so take your own. Best to bring any prescription medications.Deodrant is expensive in bali and often not antiperspirant.Approx 30ml undiluted Cottees rasperry cordial every day keeps bali Belly at bay. Just bring an adaptor to charge cam battries, mobile phones ect.I have a large chip in my digital camera but developing to print or cd format is inexpensive in Bali. Comfortable sandals--closed in shoes get too hot. I put my mobile on international roaming-for emergency only. The cheapest way to communicate with home is on msn --from one of the many internet cafes. If you wish to usr your phone in Ball for local communication it's cheapest to buy a sim card up there and...

Sex, Condoms & the Balinese

by balisunshine

Ok, Ok,some of you may crave that romance while traveling abroad.Being Latina & into the Latinos myself, and not convinced of the Indonesians as lovers,I write as a witness only,on this subject matter. If you are a woman, you will find many male Indonesianswilling to go for the ride of having everything paid for, and maybe a free plane ticket out,or a financial stability for the rest of their lives.Call them The Kuta CowboysBut beware, the boyz here have the tendency to lie.1) About NOT being married, while many of them are married in their 20's.2) Using condoms. Most of them have never even seen one!Don't be stupid! If you must have some romance on this trip, carry your own condoms.DO NOT expect them to have one, when the time is right. You will just be looking for trouble,or catch some kind of disease. As conservative as they are,(in my opinion)they do get aroundevery here and there,looking...

Pack Light

by bladedragon

Bring a secure bag that can be locked. Casual, beach wear, jacket. Personal medications, if you're staying in a hotel toiletries should not be a problem, unless Bali is a developed tourist spot. You can practically find almost everything here, so if you have money, just bring lots of money or credit card, that should do.For everything else, let your money do the job.

Pack Light!

by travellinmeags

In light of recent events you can choose to have your bag shrink wrapped at the airport before you leave. If you do so be patient when you get to the carousel to collect them they all look the same! Most feet swell in the humidity so pack very loose fitting shoes. Shoes are a dime a dozen over there usually costing around the $5.00 mark, so don;t worry to much about packing them. You can pretty much but all of your clothes in Bali, be aware some of the quality is not great and some tend to shirnk as soon as you wash them. Of course pack your perscrition medicine but everything else is readily available and quite cheap. I always stock up on make-up and facial products when I am there (a fraction of the price as at home) Don't worry too much about wet weather gear I have been twice and if it does rain it is only a quick shower, it is so hot that if you do get wet you will probably...

Sunblock and medical supplies

by olessiam

Don't bring a lot of clothes, as I did and regreted afterwards. You will probably spend most of the time on the beach, and it is so warm and humid there most of the time that all you'll need are a few sundresses, T-shirts and skirts or shorts. In addition, you can buy a lot of cheap but local and very nice clothes there, so you should have some room left in your bags! Definitely bring your own medical supplies. I got a very bad cold while in Bali, but all they could offer me at the local store or the hotel was vitamin C!Bring lots of sunblock. You can buy it there, but it will be more expensive than buying it at home at a local drugstore.
