We stayed at Taman Sari Cottages (Pemuteran) and don't like to always dine in. Our first meal outside was a disappointment. Raré Angon homestay and resto is just across the main road when you come from Taman Sari. We found both their food and their drinks tasteless, and got a shrug when we complained! So we went farther afield and with luck we entered Warung Sari: the place looked attractive. We have seldom enjoyed better in Bali, and still favourably priced. Talking with the owner, Ketut Suwitama, we found out why: he doubles as a cook at Matahari, the most upmarket resort at Pemuteran. He also runs a babi gulung (roast pig) warung at Goris (west of Pemuteran), which supplies the babi guling to Matahari resort. When he is on duty at the Matahari, his wife Made Tiarani serves the guests

Yummy corn on the cobb by balisunshine If you’re on a budget, you may opt to eat from the local food carts. Be careful, these foods are not always prepared in the most hygienic of conditions. But one food item that should be safe to eat is corn. Well....just as long as the corn is not handled directly by the hands of the vendor, after he has been collecting old and dirty 1000 Rp bills. The cost of corn is 2000 Rp. The Balinese usually add a lot of spacey sauce, so if you desire not to have some, you should mention it when purschasing Leave a Comment Theme: Street VendorPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: On the streets in Bali

Mkyonos Restaurant by leanne_pearc One of the two Greek restaurants in Seminyak this place was a lot of fun. Our driver couldnt find the place so we were dropped off and asked some people nearby that were able to guide us in the right direction. We took the table under the verandah and ordered our first round of cocktails. A cosmopolitan for me and Long Island Ice tea for my friends. For entrees we ordered the Tzatziki with pita and some antipasto. Service was very good and the lady looking after our table was always nearby.
I ordered the Souvlaki Pita bread and it was beautiful and fresh. A Happy Meal by leanne_pearc One night we went to one of the seafood restaurants at the well talked about area - Jimbaran Bay. The restaurant was called Marlin Cafe and our driver dropped us off in what looked like a garage...vip parking! We walked past the 'fresh' produce (alive) and through the restaurant onto the beach area. 3 staff set our table up and we as we read through our menu on the beach we ordered a round of cocktails. Margarita for me! There were a few people in the restaurant which is always a good sign, the restaurants next door seemed quiet. When we were ready to order we went up to the counter and chose our meal for the night. I ordered a squid, my friends ordered white snapper and a lobster. No matter where you go lobsters are still expensive! The meals come with a side of white rice. My squid was spicy however it was very tasty. The side of rice broke up the intensity of having seafood (i am used to having seafood mixed in a dish)...this is a seafood lovers dream! Leave a Comment

Luxury on the Beach by leanne_pearc The first point to note is this restaurant is expensive however for one night's splurge is was well worth it! The open aired beach restaurant is located on a cliff top. The chair and tables are in the sand. Our group shared a few entrees of dipp, chips and prawns. I ordered a surf n turb which came with a lobster, a margaret river steak and some vegetables. It was mouth watering. This place would be unbeleivable at sunset. We couldn't see the ocean however we could hear the waves crash onto the cliffs and the distant rock bar playing its tunes. The Balinese are very artistic people and aesthetics are clearly important to them - from the ambience of the restaurant to the way the food is presented. We were served prawn crackers with chilli sauce as a starter before the main course arrived. My friend ordered the "ayam bertutu" which was aromatic, tender and succulent but I don't think it could hold a candle to what I had - the mixed "sate lilit". Our food came accompanied with three types of rice - white, yellow and red rice. The waitress who served us gave us a brief explanation of each local food while serving us (I guess they are used to serving tourists). The interesting feature of this restaurant is that they have cooking classes on certain days in their efforts to promote Balinese food although we did not participate in those classes. Also, on designated days, there are traditional Balinese shows to entertain patrons.
The mixed "sate lilit" is highly recommended. Different types of minced seafood and meat (pork, beef, chicken) wrapped around fragrant lemon grass skewers and slowly grilled over a charcoal fire. The aroma is amazing and the taste is heavenly. Leave a Comment

With their first restaurant opened on 2004 in Bali, Queen's Tandoor promptly established in reputation of serving five stars Indian cuisine. Queen’s Tandoor the second branch at JL.Kartika Plaza, offer a little more casual and modern environment with a little more fusion added on the menus. Queen’s Tandoor has won prestigious award and also many praises from the customers worldwide .Which is not overstatement because with 5 chef straight from India working in the kitchen .Vegetable samosa ,chicken tandoori, Sheekh Kebab ,Chicken Vindaloo and malai Kofta are some the most favored dishes amongs the extensive menus with the accompany of Naan, Chappati or Safron Rice .Vegetarian will have no problem on coming and enjoying the food since there are a lot vegetarian dishes available. And if you are adventurous enough or enthusiastic for Indian taste close your meal with the exotic taste of kulfi an Indian style ice cream or Masala Tea- a good tea for your health also.

NOMAD RESTAURANT by Chrissy50 Just to add a a few of my favourits, the Dirty Duck Restaurant I thought had gone off a little, just a bit too touristy however Nomad Restarant is great, so is Casa Luna and Indus, they are just a couple in Ubud but there are heaps more. Oh I forgot, near the Dirty Duck Restaurant is Pundi Pundi that is quite good also. Lotus Restaurant near the markets is really good and has entertainment as well. If you want to try a really good local dish ask for the smoked duck.
