Selera Kuring: Sundanese Food

by pharsadi

This is a pretty big restaurant. It has AC too, so it's really a good place for you to eat if you're looking for a place to cool down. This restaurant mostly serves Sundanese food. There are of course some Balinese food & also seafood. The service and the food was not bad at all. It was fast, and the food was good. However, when were were there, we saw that there were not too many people there, even tho it was lunch time. Our tour guide told us why. As you all know, for many people in Bali, tourism are their main income source. Many of them becoming tour guides. And restaurants (and any other places) live by word of mouth advertisements by those guides. If a restaurant doesn't treat the guides well, then no guides will want to take their guest there. That's why he said that this restaurant we went to did not have a lot of customers. But other than that, I thought the restaurant was ok. The...

Ayam Bakar "Wong Solo": Javanese Food

by pharsadi

"Ayam Bakar" is grilled chicken. "Wong Solo" is Solo people. Solo is a city in central Java. So there's a little language lesson. The restaurant itself has a very traditional javanese decor as you can see from the pictures. Food is good and the service is fast. When we went, it was kinda late, so there were not too many people there. The restaurant building was more like a hall, so it was not contained inside 4 walls, which was great. There was a fresh breeze of air when we ate there. These were the food we ordered, and they were very tasty:- Grilled fish- Grilled fish- Fried tempe (made out of soy beans)- Kangkung blacan (water spinach with shrimp paste)And the food came with chili sauce and sweet soy sauce.

Food Court: Variety of Food

by pharsadi

This food court has a lot of varieties of food. In this outdoor complex, there are about 20-30 food vendors ranging from western food to chinese food to indonesian food. The price ranges because each vendor is privately own, so they determine their own prices. One of the vendors that we went to was called the "Borneo Restaurant". The owner was there when we went. His name was Aciang. He migrated from the Borneo island, that's why he named his restaurant "Borneo". We found that this restaurant was good. The service was fast, and the price was very reasonable. If you happen to go there and see Aciang, send my regards for him. What's good about this food court is that they close at 3 in the morning. So if you need some hot noodle soup in the middle of the night to warm you up, this is the place to go.

Made's Warung: Traditional Cosmopolitan

by pharsadi

The restaurant has a very nice ambiance. It has a very traditional feel, yet very modern. It has a very loungy feeling, but yet it's a restarant with real food. Their motto is "The Place to Eat and Meet".What's in their menu are amazing. They have western food, as well as traditional indonesian and balinese food. They've got smoothies and juices too. And the prices are very reasonably cheap. We ordered 3 dishes when we were there for dinner: - fried rice- ribs with papaya in some kind of curry- rice cake with peanut sauceThere were all good! and of cource, we did not forget the Bir Bintang (beer)

Halal Food: Padang Food

by imran8852

There are abundant of Padang Restaurants at Denpasar and Sanur Area even at Ubud so there won’t be any ‘food’ problem for Muslims in Bali. You can ask them to pack for you 'Bungkus' to bring back to your hotel room...Except in places further up like Amed or Singaraja. But still, there are some Madura’s food around so just ask politely whether the seller is a Muslim or not, just to be sure that the food is ‘Halal’. If You are in Bedugul, you can find Muslim food nearby Lake Bratan area & there’s a big mosque on top of the hill called Al- Hidayah if you need to pray! Our Favorite Dish Came From The Padang Restaurant In front Of The Big Mosque In Denpasar...The 'Rendang' Is So Delicious!

Warung Made: Don't Miss the Legendary Warung Made

by Vynos03

One of my fave eatery in Bali. The food is great. The price is reasonable. The restaurant ambience was good. It is a non air con restaurant and open air. I have to say that the one in Kuta is can be too hot and stuffy sometimes, especially after a walk around the area. Stay calm and refresh your self with some cold drink. There's young coconut juice, es teh tawar (non-sweet ice tea) or sweet ice tea. Have you every try their orange juice? itz not like the OJ, it is different. itz calle es jeruk murni peras (something like that). And whatever food you order, you will not be disappointed. i always stick to a local food of the places that i am visiting. The staff is very nice too. if it is possible, try to go to the one in seminyak as it has a better ambience. Surrounded by greenery, open air, water pond ... JUst don't fall a sleep ... Nasi Campur Bali. If you are having difficulty in...

Bu Oka: suckling pig...

by marktynernyc

located near the Royal Palace in central Ubud - and made even more famous by Anthony 'No Reservations' Boredain - the suckling pig is moist and spicy and delectable. Still a local place even with it's proximity to the center of Ubud. The restaurant only serves lunch - 11am to 2 or 3 pm. suckling pig

Gracie Kelly's at the Dynasty: A Great Irish Bar in Tuban And Good Food to Boot

by BesarRahasia

This is probably as close to a real Irish pub as you are going to get in BALI. Some may say WHY others love it, Personally I love it, inside is just like my old local back in England, they even have a snug with an OPEN FIRE !!!! in Bali an OPEN FIRE, you have to smile.Wharever you decide to sit, be it in the snug, at the bar on proper bar stools, or in the open lounge area, it's a nice place to spend a couple of hours enjoying the atmosphere and the music. Evening entertainment is topped by the chef who if the mood takes him, and he has finished cooking, comes out and rocks with the resident band, all in full chef costume, and with a smile that goes from ear to ear.The food is simple Irish style home cooked and delicious. Pie lovers will have a field day here, Beef & Guiness pie, with real chunks of beef stewed in Guiness with vegetables topped with puff pastry, as tasty as I have ever...

Ma Joly: Great Food, Fabulous Atmosphere, Great View

by BesarRahasia

This is one of my favourite restaurants, the food is exceptional, the wine list is extensive and reasonably priced, the service is second to non, and the atmosphere is outstanding.Open dining spaces facing the ocean with a seperate cocktail bar, where you can sit before your meal and watch the famous Bali sunset, whilst sipping your appertief, or in my case a nice long Gin & Tonic. Before sitting down to sample some of the best food available in Bali, is my idea of absoloute heaven, it's not cheap by any means but it is real value for money compared to prices in other parts of the world for something similar. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the lunch menu is quite surprisingly extensive, but to be honest it is too hot for me to enjoy such heavy meals at that time. I prefer to eat later in the slightly cooler evenings. The menu changes regularly so I cannot say what...
