Hard Rock Cafe: Hard Rock Cafe

by yipsufen

A very funky place located right on the beach, with great party atmosphere and good live music from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Bands change every few weeks. Expect to find many singles of all kinds here looking for company. If you think this is too noisy, too crowded, or the air-conditioning too cold for you, try the CENTER STAGE at the HARD ROCK RESORT located in the back of the CAFE. As the name implies, the band performs on a raised stage in the middle of the huge round lobby bar until 11:00 p.m. Both HARD ROCK outlets are expensive by Bali standards. Also restaurant serving great burgers, steak and fries before 10pm. Hard Rock Megastore sells all kinds of memorabilia for souvenir-seekers and the ever-popular trademark T-shirts for the avid collectors.Don't get offended when you might be requested to stop for metal / bomb scanning before entering into Hard Rock Cafe.

Mertasari Restaurant: Buffet Restaurant in Kintamani

by yipsufen

This is probably one of the more famous or nicer restaurant in Kintamani village, I think mainly cater to the tour groups. While enjoying your buffet local food, you can overlook the majestic Mount Batur emitting puffs of ashes. Although the interior look grand and airy but the food and service here are ordinary. It serves buffet lunch but with limited variety. Try their fish satay and sweet & sour fish which are quite appetizing and worth mentioning. Some dishes are not properly heated up and not replenished.

Flying Piano: Swedish Restaurant

by yipsufen

This is a popular bar and restaurant among Swedish tourists, situated near to Hotel Saphir Mabisa Inn at Legian. At evening, customers like to hangout here, have a beer or two with fellow tourists and sing along with the live band accompanied by signature piano music.

Grilled Seafood at Jimbaran Bay

by yipsufen

The best place for fresh seafood is still Jimbaran Beach with its rows of open restaurants right on the sandy beach near the Bali Inter-Continental Resort and between the Keraton Hotel and the airport. The number of eateries is fast increasing, but the original six restaurants on the airport side of the Keraton Hotel are still the most reasonably priced, and they serve the same delicious food. All kinds of fresh fish, squid, crabs, prawns, and lobsters are prepared on the open grill (burning coconut husks instead of charcoal) with exotic herbs and spices.Try the grilled seafood places that open around sunset along the beach. Lots of smoke but the food is tasty with the setting pleasant.Be sure to arrive early at about 5:30pm, so that you can pick and cook your seafood to your order. Be note that the price of seafood varies from live seafood to dead seafood, the price is doubled. Fresh...

Bintang Beer

by yipsufen

As for thirst-quenchers, a good local beer to go with your food or Bali salted peanuts is Bintang, especially fresh and light. Most foreigners like this beer. Many restaurants and pubs also serve Bintang "draft".

Local Balinese Food

by yipsufen

Balinese cuisine is known for its spicy ingredients, the Balinese roasted pig 'Babi Guling' is a favorite as well as the Indonesian 'Nasi Goreng' , 'Mie Goreng' or 'Satay' are frequently chosen dishes by foreigners. Others such as fried fish with hot sauce and smoked chicken. There are two traditional Balinese dishes you should not miss: It's a must to try the Babi Guling, the crispy skin and pieces of grilled suckling pig which is a specialty of the town of Gianyar, and the Bebek Betutu, a delicious duck specialty, slowly baked in banana leaves together with many different herbs and spices. To try "Babi Guling" watch out for ignboards at small restaurants which specialize in this dish. The "Bebek" you should try in MURNI'S WARUNG next to the bridge in Campuhan, Ubud.

Restaurants by the beach: Seafood in Jimbaran

by juliewong

We treated ourselves to a candle light seafood dinner in Jimbaran after the trip to Tanah Lot. I cannot recall the name of the restaurant but prices were on the high side. Frankly, the seafood dishes were not the most delicious I had tried (we have better ones in Malaysia). I end up having my dinner there coz my guide recommended this place. Still, there is a whole stretch of restaurants along the beach. Go for the ambience if not the food.

NONE: Street Food

by roseg

Gotta share, because this is the BEST culinary discovery I've made in Bali: NASI BUNGKUS! Nasi means "rice" and bungkus means "street". These locals in their bikes or motorcycles sell the paper-wrapped cheap-as-dirt delights. If you like a lot of stuff with your rice then I'm sorry but you'll just have to head to the nearest resto. But if you're ok with a simple meal that's very Balinese (this is what the locals eat---haven't seen other tourists / travellers eating nasi bungkus besides us!!!) then you're good to go. Each will set you back Rp 1,500- Rp 2,000 which you all must know, is around less than 20 cents US!!They have different flavors too: fish, chicken and what have you's.
