Nusa Indah Restaurant: A great place to eat and relax

by shelnlin

Nusa Indah was a great little restaurant on Poppies Gang one that I could easily go back time and time again without blowing the budget or having something go bad in my stomach. A simple little bar come restaurant I found this place across the road from the Hotel I was staying in. It had a great staff ratio and the food was so tasty and yet affordable. Although it was an open air restaurant it had character, a character similar to most other places on the Island. But the people were welcoming and friendly and my wish is that I hope to all of you that this little place is still in business.Try this dish out or refer to my Cookbook in my Homepage for the infamous Nasi Goreng recipe. Beef RendangSpicy Indonesian beef dish in a almost dry coconut sauce. Suitable as a main or side dish.Ingredients:500 gr. Rump steak.2 Onions.4 Garlic cloves.3 Fresh red chillies.2½ cm Ginger root.1 teaspoon...

Globe Cafe: Globe Cafe

by lyrad

This is a small little eatery in a quiet part of north Kuta. Not many people are familiar with this restaurant but read about it on a fellow Vt'er Bali page. Must say however that the food here was average. The Mee Goreng (fried noodles) was like fried instant noodles. The Nasi Goreng was also passable, but the gado gado wasn't very good. They do deliver, but I would suggest eating at other establishments if you can.

Kekeluagaan Pantai Sari Cafe: Jimbaran Beach BBQ

by lyrad

There are a number of seafood grills along the Jimbaran Beach. I prefer the stretch closer to the four seasons resort at the left side of the beach (as you face the sea). There is another cluster on the right hand side, but the set up looked a little run-down. Choose an evening when the sky is relatively clear, go down around 5:45-6pm and compare all the various packages from the various vendors, then settle yourself near the sea and enjoy the sunset. Then enjoy all the various grilled seafood that is brought to your table before the flies get at them!

Dulang Cafe: Dulang Cafe

by lyrad

There have been mixed reviews from Vt'ers about the food here, but I've eaten at this restaurant each time I've been in Bali and have never been disappointed with the food. The service however admittedly can be improved. Must trys at Dulang include their nasi goreng (fried rice) which I personally think is one of the best I've had in Bali. Would recommend that you wash that down with a refreshing Ice Lemongrass tea or with a banana shake.

Made's Warung: Made's Warung - Great Local Food

by lyrad

I've been told that presidents and royalty dine at this restaurant whenever they are in Bali. After trying the food, I'm not surprised why! There are two outlets, Made's Warung I is located in the main Kuta shopping belt (smaller set up), while Made's Warung II is located in Seminyak and is a little more spacious. We ordered satay (indonesian kebads), gado gado (indonesian salad), a grilled fish and papaya rib curry and everything was delicious! They do have a western menu too, and the food must be pretty good as we noticed a number of foreigners all attacking their food with gusto.

Murni's Warung: Murni's Warung - eat overlooking a waterfall!

by lyrad

I found out about this restaurant from the recommendation of another Vt'er and I must say that I wasn't disappointed! Overlooking a waterfall, the main entrance to this restaurant is actually on the top floor. Make your way down to the lowest level and dine with the sounds of the water cascading down the rocks below you.Besides the unique setting, the food here is also quite good. You probably won't go wrong ordering one of their daily specials. We had no complaints with the nasi kuning, local chicken stew and frogs legs fried in butter and garlic that we ordered. If you have space, try also their thick chocolate shake for desert - absolutely heavenly!

Bebek Bengil 1 - Dirty Duck Diner: Must try the "dirty" duck!

by lyrad

This famous restaurant in Ubud has moved to a new location along Padang Tegal Road, parallel to the main Monkey Forest Street. There is a lot more space here, and you have the choice to dine in your own pavillion (sitting on cushions Japanese style) or on regular tables. There is only one dish you should order here, which is the Balinese fried duck special. You can choose to have your finger licking good deep fried duck accompanied by western sides (salad & potatoes) or local sides (gado gado and rice). Makes for an extremely satisfying meal!
