The Cat and fiddle: Food what can I say Yummy

by Chellenz

Yummy great food actually if you want European food you must go to Cat and fiddle!!! If you like Bangers and Mash, Pork chops, Guiness Pie home made Apple Pie its all on!!! This is the place for you. Popular with expats the food isn't the cheapest in bali but the quality and quantity is so worth the money. Very friendly bar and restuarant. Apple Pie and Icecream anytime of the day Idon't think I have had a homemade apple pie like this ever if I did I don't remember it.

Too hot to eat???

by balisunshine

Tingling ginger sautes, rich and creamy peanut sauces, spicy chili toppings that will fire the palate, are of these ingredients are used for many of the dishes here.In the Indonesian standards, the food that we eatin the Western worldis flat and tasteless. When in doubt as to weatherthe dish is spicy hot or not, ask, 'Pedas atau tidak'If the dish is too hot,eat some of the boiled rice, cucumber, a banana or some bread. To make the dish less fiery hot, squeeze a little lemon with some salt over it.Some other ingredients used in Balinese food are:a gritty sea salt (uyah),black (mica selem) and white (mica putih) pepper, candlenuts (tingkih), ginger (jahe), coriander seeds (ketumbah),tiny mild, pear shaped onions (bawang barak),sour tamarind (celagi), and garlic(kesuna).Others such as aromatic roots and leaves,MSG (monosodium glutamate, or pitsin in Balinese),citrus juice (lemo) are added for extra...

Street Food Carts or Warungs: For Intestines Made of Steel

by balisunshine

With hygiene being a problem in Bali, eating from food carts in the streetsor some so-called warungs is a potential hazard.Just take a look at the kitchen,or notice if the place is cleanand well runned. But if you truly believe you have intestines made out of steel, then take some of the following precautions, just incase.Avoid food that has sat in the midday heat assaulted by flies, and food that has been reheated.Fruit that you peel yourself should be fine.Raw vegetables, including salads, are suspect, because of the water they have been washed in.Shellfish such as mussels, oysters and clams should be avoided,as well as undercooked meat, particularly in the form of mince.Bon appetit!

Manega Café in Jimbaran: A Delicious Experience

by balisunshine

A must while in Bali,is to have fresh seafood at Jimbaran. At first it can be confusing to choose exactly which one to go to.First of all, there are two areas right on the beach full of restaurants to eat from.Make sure that you go to the area on Jalan Four Seasons Hotel.Once you arrive to the car park, you may be greeted by a heavy cloud of smoke.Don’t fret if you are a non-smoker.This is the smoke from the grill of all the food that they are cookin’.Proceed a couple of restaurants down, and you will see Menega Cafe. After eating at a few, this one has become my favorite. If you are lucky, you’ll be greeted by Wayan Subgia.(The guy in the photo.)The last time I had been there,I absolutely fell in love with their crab.Wayan was kind enough to fore warn me that the crabs were a bit too small, because of the full moon,so to select a fish that they were THE good catch of the day.It turned out to...

Ku De Ta: A breath taking view!

by aliyaS

I believe when you go to Bali, you should go somewhere that is magical and gives you a view or ambience that you can't get anywhere else in the world. Ku De Ta offers that and more! The next time I go to Bali I will be sure to go there again but, this time watch the sunset on the lounge chairs at the edge of the cliff with a cocktail in hand before the amazing meal that Ku de ta is well known for! The food really was a surprise! It's rare to find a restaurant so beautiful with food to equal that. If you're on a romantic excursion, be sure to book in advance the table at the edge of the cliff. It's very secluded and set apart from the rest of the tables. It's a must go if you're going to Bali. Why now splurge a little for something so worth it? I loved all the dishes! There wasn't one dish I regretted ordering.

The Mezzanine: A beautiful night

by jonbarb709

The ambience was great. The decor was just what you would expect after reading about Bali in a book. The service was excellent. The food was outstanding and the prices were just fantastic. I had a steak dinner for under $10(USA) The music was terrific. Everything was just perfect. Could not have asked for a better night on the town.. Casual dress, dress up, whatever makes you comfortable. I had a steak dinner, with potatoes and vegetable. Bread was excellent.

Starbucks: Iced coffee and latte's

by redhotwax

Now, whilst I don't like the McDonalds et al on Bali, I do like Starbucks being around! There's a Starbucks near Kuta Square, attached to the Hard Rock Cafe. You can get everything you're used to from Starbucks right here! It's nice to have a frappucino and bananabread in the blazing Bali heat! Frappucino is the best choice at 30 degrees Celcius :)
