Warung Makan Gianyar: Roasted Pork

by mary2u99

This is one of the local specialty. Roasted pork serve with rice, some soup and salads. It was delicious and we try it at 2 different restaurant or warung as they call it here. We also tried ayam bertutu ( chicken cooked in spices and grill to perfections). It was delicious. There are many of these type of warung or restaurant around Ubud.

Lotus Cafe- UBUD: Don't miss the show!

by Homanded

Incredible food, beautiful views with authentic flair.Set amidst beautifully sculpted Lotus Pond and a Temple as a backdrop, the Lotus Cafe makes up with setting and food quality what it lacked in hospitality. This is the only restaurant we dined at in Bali where service seemed to be "hurried" and more impersonal...try to book a lotus pond side pavillion seating. We ordered a sampler dish which included several popular local fares such as fried rice(Nase Goreng) veggies, chips and others. The fresh catch was delicious, a fresh Sea Bass. The green curried Chicken was also delicioius. NOTE: if you go to their website http://www.lotus-restaurants.com/lotus_garden.html you can download a voucher for a discount, along with a sample of their menu.

Lotus Cafe: Lotus Cafe

by bryINpoland

The Lotus Cafe came highly recommended while in Ubud. It seems that half a dozen people asked us "have you had dinner at the Lotus yet? So we figured we might as well eat there, so we can finally answer "yes".We finally visited the Lotus Cafe on a Thursday night. Though their website says they have traditional Balinese dances and gamelan orchestras on Tuesdays, and Saturdays, we managed to catch a show that night as well. It was performed on a stage, across the lotus pond, with the Pura Taman Kemuda Saraswati Temple as its backdrop. You may want to look into it more, to find a reliable schedule, if you want to catch a performance while dinning. It was a fabulous show!We sat around the side of the Lotus pond, seated on bamboo mats, while we watched the performances. Sitting with my legs crossed, and my shoes off, was the first time i had ever dinned the traditional Asian way. I cant say...

Bebek Bengil: The Best Duck on Earth

by rosie_b

Don't be affraid of the meaning of the restaurant (it means Dirty Duck), because I can guarantee that the ducks that they cook are clean and taste great. There are two kinds of seating at the restaurant: regular tables or bale. We chose the bale, because they are on the back of the restaurant, overlooking the rice field and the view of the mountains. Balinese know their ducks, seriously. This place probably has the tastiest crispy duck I have ever eaten in my life. Even though you probably do not like duck in general, you should try this, period. I'm not a big fan of duck either but this restaurant changed my mind. The crispy duck came with two different kinds of sambal, sambal matah (with sliced shallots) and sambal goreng (cooked sambal). On the side, it also came with a small green bean with coconut dish called urab. It was the most satisfying meal I have ever had for a long time.

Bayang Cafe @ Jimbaran Bay: A Good Deal for Fresh Seafood & unbeatable Sunset!

by Wild_Orchid

The sunset that can be viewed at Jimbaran Bay is simply spectacular. There are three main spots for seafood on Jimbaran Bay, one spot near the 4 Seasons Resort, another spot at the middle, near Jl Pemelisan Agung and the last nearer to the Ngurah Rai Airport, at Kedongangan Beach. Each seafood spot has more than a dozen cafes and you will be spoilt for choice. Quality of cooking and pricing differs from one to another, but the one featured here, had excellent food, good service, great sunset and best of all, a reasonable pricing.Ooops, sorry for the rather blurred pics, it was taken by our friendly waiter. Grilled Live Lobster at 170,000 rupiahs per kilo (at other cafes in the area, I got a menu price of 250,000 to 300,000 rupiahs per kilo for Live Lobster)Grilled Fresh Lobster at 150,000 rupiahs per kiloFresh Fish (many varieties), clams and medium sized prawns 40,000 rupiahs per kiloWe...

Kafe Warisan: Fine dining 2

by SPW

Yet another excellent restaurant, this time tucked away behind a number of galleries, and in the daylight, overlooking rice fields. At night, when we went, it was romantic candlelight and budlights in the trees. The food was excellent and many good wines were available by the glass as well as bottles. For lunch there is a daily offer of 2 courses for 45,000Rp per person, amazing value. I had snapper and stirfried vegetables and Susan had prawns and scallops (complete with roe, unfortunately so often removed) and spinach. The tastes and presentation were superb.

Aroma Bumbu Bali: Have dinner on the beach!

by sunset_gal

This restaurant is just one of the many on Kedonganan Beach. All these restaurants have their tables on the sand, where you can watch the sunset and the sea and have dinner. The ambience was great, especially with the sound of huge waves surrounding you. We ate our dinner by the candlelight, with the sand under our feet. There was also a live band moving from table to table. They were GOOD! However, the service at the restaurant was really slow. We had to wait for our dinner for almost 2 hours! That was the longest I have ever waited. When the food came, it was disappointing. Be very careful when your taxi driver offers to drive you there. They tell you that its 20% cheaper but the prices have been marked up. The drivers get a commission when you patronise the restaurant.----- The fried calamari was fantastic! Crispy and very tasty. But thats about it. We ordered fish, chips, rice,...

Kudeta: Pricey food

by fachd

We decided to visit Ku De Ta and preety much dissapointed. I think it is overated and also a bit pretencious. The food price is more than Canberra and the beer cost you more than other places in Bali. I must admit the beach front is quite nice and clean. We didn't get 2 c the sunset as we visited Kudeta during the day. They say the sunset is awesome but really I reckon it is no different to the sunset from our hotel. Well if you want to hang out with the hipster/yuppies and in general if you want to pay more for the food/drink, Kudeta is the place to go. Ordinary dish with high cost.
