TAO Restaurant: Excellent Thai Food

by Wann

TAO is a very nice Thai restaurant, open for lunch and dinner. We enjoyed every Thai dishes. At lunch you can enjoy the food with ocean view and pool view, at night the atmosphere just romantic, having dinner under the candle light and somedays they have live folksong music. Very nice place.

Om Swastiastu: Great atmosphere

by fachd

I recommend Om Swastiastu Restaurant in Jalan padma Legian. It is a pleasant restaurant with nice ambience. It's a mix bag. You can order western food like steak, pasta or Japanese and Indonesian. They are varieties of snacks and desert. The cocktail is not too bad (cheap), beer bintang comes nice and cold. At night you can listen and dance to a live band. We ate here once for lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is better at night.

Made's Warung: Indonesian Food

by fachd

Made's Warung in Seminyak is cheap. The restaurant is well known for Indonesian and Balinese food. They also serve food from Thai and Japan. We went there for lunch and had Lumpia, Chicken Sate, Nasi Campur, Es Alpuket and Bintang beer. I can’t exactly remember but I think it came to less than $25AUD. I thought the food was good not great but the Lumpia (Indonesian spring roll) was delicious. The service was good and quick. When we were there lots of locals ate at Made’s Warung.

Jimbaran Bay: Seafood by the beach - Romantic Dinner

by euli

There are several restaurants in a row in Jimbaran where you can sit on the beach by the sea. BBQ seafood served at reasonable (but not cheap) prices. Grilled squid was tasty as was the grilled red snapper.

Tutmak: No airs and very welcoming

by oyleO

We stopped here for a break during our afternoon in Ubud centre. We went in because it looked welcoming and cosy. The place was busy but not full, and the tables were occupied mostly by Caucasians. Everyone was dressed casually, and this seems to be a meeting place for some of them. Service was prompt and friendly, and the staff speak good English. They have a good selection of hot and cold coffees, teas, fresh juices and lassies. We didn't eat anything so we can't comment on the food. We sat looking at the soccer field, which was quite nice. We really enjoyed our short break there.

Sardines: It’s getting fishy in here!

by balisunshine

A new addition to the finer dining list in Bali is Sardines. This Bamboo style restaurant is conveniently located on Petitenget with views to a rice field.Open air, with a walk to a bale in the middle of the rice field, this can be a very romantic spot. There is also a bar where to gather over a few drinks. The owner, Pascal Chevillot is a 4th generation chef from France, and his slovain artist wife Pika roams from table to table with suggestions on their latest creations on their menu. The food they serve is mostly seafood...hence the name Sardine. Some of the items that were found on the menu at the time of my visit included:AppetizersCrab and Rockfish Saffron Bisque, Rouille, Croutons 60,000 RpClams in Ginger Sake Minestrone 55,000RpFresh Water Prawns and String Beans, Tarragon Vinaigrette 60,000RpSea Scallop and Kiwi Sashami, Shiso Leaf, Yuzu Vinaigrette 80,000 RpWhite Snapper Sashami,...

On the street, local warung or up in the trees...: It's as fresh as coconut!

by balisunshine

One item you'll be able to find, are coconuts! They are yummy and fresh!Drinking coconut water addsbenefits to your health such as:-keeps your body cool and at the proper temperature-it is an all natural isotonic drink-carries nutrients and oxygen to cells-naturally replensihes your body's fluids after exercising-raise your metabolism-promotes weight loss-boosts your immune system-detoxifies and fights viruses-cleanses your digestive tract-controls diabetes-aids your body in fighting viruses that cause the flu, herpes and AIDS-balances your PH and reduces the risk of cancer-treats kidney and urethral stones-boosts poor circulationSo, instead of grabbing a non-healthy soft drink,do some good for yourselfand ask for coconut water instead!!It's also probably be cheaper!Prices range from 6,000-20,000 RPdepending where you buy them. The cheapest place to get them is at the local stand on the...

Cheap Eats

by balisunshine

If you’re on a budget, you may opt to eat from the local food carts.Be careful, these foods are not always prepared in the most hygienic of conditions. But one food item that should be safe to eat is corn.Well....just as long as the corn is not handled directly by the hands of the vendor, after he has been collecting old and dirty 1000 Rp bills. The cost of corn is 2000 Rp.The Balinese usually add a lot of spacey sauce,so if you desire not to have some, you should mention it when purschasing

Mykonos: Greek Food in Bali

by leanne_pearc

One of the two Greek restaurants in Seminyak this place was a lot of fun. Our driver couldnt find the place so we were dropped off and asked some people nearby that were able to guide us in the right direction. We took the table under the verandah and ordered our first round of cocktails. A cosmopolitan for me and Long Island Ice tea for my friends. For entrees we ordered the Tzatziki with pita and some antipasto. Service was very good and the lady looking after our table was always nearby. I ordered the Souvlaki Pita bread and it was beautiful and fresh.

Jimbaran Bay Seafood

by leanne_pearc

One night we went to one of the seafood restaurants at the well talked about area - Jimbaran Bay.The restaurant was called Marlin Cafe and our driver dropped us off in what looked like a garage...vip parking! We walked past the 'fresh' produce (alive) and through the restaurant onto the beach area. 3 staff set our table up and we as we read through our menu on the beach we ordered a round of cocktails. Margarita for me! There were a few people in the restaurant which is always a good sign, the restaurants next door seemed quiet. When we were ready to order we went up to the counter and chose our meal for the night. I ordered a squid, my friends ordered white snapper and a lobster. No matter where you go lobsters are still expensive! The meals come with a side of white rice. My squid was spicy however it was very tasty. The side of rice broke up the intensity of having seafood (i am used...
