    Picadilly: Quite a find!

by krissyM Updated Oct 5, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This restaurant is designed to resemble a british pub. It is owned and run by a german chef who fell in love and married a Balinese dancer. You can find their life story printed on the front page of the menu. In addition to the typical fare found on a menu there were some surprising finds. I had the cheeseburger for (~$3 USD). It was absolutely delicious! They didn't use ground beef but used minced steak and it was spiced amazingly. My friend had the marinated pork chop and he licked the plate clean. This restauant also offers some interesting German dishes such as wirner schnitzel and veal cordon blue.

The bar also has a few beers available such as Guiness and Corona.

Favorite Dish: The cheesburger was delicious!

Tamblingan Bar and Cafe: Typical Fare

by krissyM Updated Oct 5, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This restaurant serves the typical menu that you will find in Bali: Nasi Gorneg, Spagetti Carbonara etc but the ambiance of this place is really nice. It is very trendy in it's decoration. It actually reminded my of restaurants in LA. The staff is very attentive and there is live traditional balinese music to accompany your dinner. Some nights there is live cover bands in the bar,

Favorite Dish: The spagetti Carbonara was one of the better I tasted. But the Fried spring rolls were delicious. They come with a spicy orange chilli sauce.

    The Clay Oven: Indian Food

by krissyM Written Oct 4, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In a sea of restaurants serving Nasi Goreng, Spagetti Carbonara and pizza Margerita you can find a few restaurants serving fare "a little different". The Clay Oven is one of these places. It is located on Jalan Danau Tamblingan. Serving traditional Indian food, this restaurant is realatively cheap (in comparison to Indian restaurants back home) with it's dishes about 35,000 Rp a dish. Thats about $3.75 a dish. You could see the cook off to the side grilling our paneer over an open flame and our food came quickly.

    Coriander: Delicious Thai Food

by krissyM Written Oct 2, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This restaurant which is located on Jalan Danau Tamblingan has a delicious Thai menu in addition to the typical touristy Balinese menu of Spagetti Carbonara and Nasi Goreng. The Chilli Chicken was my favorite (I went back again another night for seconds). The owner was happy to make it as spicy as I liked and brought some fresh chillis to the table as well. If you feel like something different (trust me you will as every restaurant serves the same thing) go to Coriander.

Favorite Dish: The Chilli Chicken is to die for! I also enjoyed the Pad Thai.

My Mum just loved the desserts
    1 more image

The restaurant at the Sanur Paradise Plaza Suites has a great selection for Breakfast, Lunch by the pool or Dinner. They even set up a Barbecue for you to cook by the pool. We've stayed at this hotel 3 times & still like to have one meal a day at the hotel. The hotel also has a food passport that you buy to give you 50% off your food bill & 25% off you drinks at the restarant great value.

Favorite Dish: There are so many favourites but my husband would say it is the Australian Fillet steak, even better than we can find at home. The cocktails are great & so are the desserts. The seafood barbecue by the pool was great fun. Even our balinese driver enjoyed it too.

    Eating In Sanur

Steaks in Sauce and Nasi Goreng with Chicken

We went into town for dinner 1 night and the town was small, 1 main road with a number of small shops, cafes, and bars. The food was 1/4 the price of the resort food so we got ourselves some t bone steaks with chips for around $1.50 each.

If you want to try something local go for the Nasi Goreng which is an Indonesian fried rice.

    SPIRIT COFFEE & TEA HOUSE

If you're looking for some good coffee and "aussie" food you have to visit this place. It's set back from the beach in a small complex, you can't miss it. Liz has always got time to stop for a chat. Staff are very nice too.

Favorite Dish: Apart from great coffee and tea, alcoholic drinks are also available.
Scrambled eggs, bacon and toast for brekky are bloody good too!!
We also tried the Lemon Meringue Pie and gave that a thumbs up too!!
