WE VISITED THIS SUPERMARKET TIME & TIME AGAIN. THE STAFF WERE LOVELY SUPERMARKET PRICES REASONABLE AND ALL AIRCONDITIONED. THEY EVEN OPENED THE SHOP EARLY FOR US AS WE WAITED OUT THE FRONT. ON OUR LAST DAY THEY TOLD US WE HAD BEEN ONE OF HEIR BEST CUSTOMER'S IN THE LAST WEEK & OFFERED ME A 50% DISCOUNT ON THE PUNCHED METAL WORK I HAD ADMIRED.
What to buy: CHEAP COLD DRINKS AS THEY DON'T PUT A SURCHARGE ON WHEN YOU BUY THEM COLD. SOME SHOPS DO IN BALI. BOUGHT LOADS OF FACIAL WASHES SO CHEAP HERE. I ALSO BOUGHT MY BALI COFFEE TO TAKE BACK HOME AS GIFTS . THE KIDS BODY WASH CAME WITH A FREE GIFT AND THEIR TRADITIONAL LINIMENTS AND RUBS WERE A GOOD PRICE TOO.
THEY ALSO DON'T CHARGE A 2% SURCHARGE TO USE VISA WHICH IS NICE.

It's not really a shop since Maya's Coffee & Smoothie bar is primarily a café. However after visiting in January 2011, I found they have expanded the premises and started selling Swedish Snus (form of tobacco).
Ok, prices are higher than home but perfect for Snus-loving people on long haul travel...
What to buy: Snus... Besides the healthy snacks (mainly breakfast and sandwiches), coffee or smoothies...
What to pay: 70.000 IDR for one snus.

ON AN EARLY MORNING WALK ALONG JL DANAU TAMBLIGAN , THE MAIN ROAD IN SANUR I SAW THIS DRESS BOUTIQUE. IT HAD A GOOD DISPLAY IN IT'S FRONT WINDOW & THE CLOTHES WERE A LITTLE BIT MORE UP MARKET THAN THE USUAL BALI TOURIST SOUVINIER TYPE CLOTHING. LATER IN THE DAY I WENT IN FOR A LOOK. IT WAS A GREAT EXCUSE TO GET OUT OF THE SUN. INSIDE THERE WAS A GOOD SELECTION OF WHAT I WOULD DESCRIBE AS RESORT WEAR STYLE CLOTHING.
What to buy: I FOUND A SUNDRESS WITH A GATHERED BUST AREA & A HALTER NECK STRAP . IT WAS FULL LENGTH TO THE FLOOR. IT WAS MADE FROM A JERSY STRETCH MATERIAL AND IN MOTTLED BROWN PRINT. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE GREAT FOR WHEN I WANTED TO COVER UP BY THE POOL, AT LUNCHTIME. AT HOME I WEAR IT AT THE END OF A HOT DAY AFTER MY SHOWER AS IT IS SO COMFORTABLE & WASHES REALLY WELL.
What to pay: THE DRESS WAS MORE THAN THE USUAL BAGGY BALI SUNDRESSES BUT IT WAS STYLISH & ONLY A LITTLE MORE AT 90,000 RP $12 aud

THEY CALL HER NO BULLDUST JENY AS SHE HAS ONE OF THE VERY FEW FIXED PRICE SHOPS IN THE SINDHU BEACH MARKETS. SHE CAN TALK AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T KNOW WHEN TO STOP BUT SHE IS EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND WILL ORDER IN STUFF YOU MAY HAVE SEEN ELSEWHERE. HE ALSO TRIES TO GET IN THE LARGER SIZED T SHIRTS ETC. SHE SEEMS TO KNOW THE MODERN STUFF WE LIKE.
What to buy: SHE HAS THE FULL RANGE FROM SHIRTS, SHIRTS, DRESSES, BAGS, SHOES, SANDALS, THONGS AND NOW A GREAT RANGE OF JEWELLERY.
What to pay: HER PRICES ARE VERY REASONABLE AND FIXED SO NO WORRIES ABOUT BEING RIPPED OFF. WE TRIED TO BARGAIN DOWN AT SOME OTHER STALLS BUT THEY WOULD NOT GO THAT LOW.

THIS IS A LITTLE MINI MARKET WE USED WHEN WE STAYED IN BUMI AYU BUNGALOWS AS IT WAS A SHORT WALK AND VERY REASONABLY PRICED. ALTHOUGH IT WASN'T LARGE WE USED IT TO GET BEERS, COOL DRINKS, ICE CREAMS, LOLLIES AND CHIPS TO SAVE THE TIME & TAXI FAIR TO THE LARGER SUPERMARKET DOWN THE STREET. BALI IS FULL OF THESE LITTLE SHOPS AND I LIKE TO USE THEM WHERE POSSIBLE AS I'M SURE THE BIG CHAIN TYPE SHOPS LIKE CIRCLE K & 7-11'S ARE TRYING TO DO THEM OUT OF BUSINESS.
What to buy: THIS SHOP ALSO HAD A PHOTO PROCESSING LAB AT THE BACK WHICH ALWAYS SEEMED BUSY.
BESIDES THE REGULAR STUFF IN SMALL MINI MARTS YOU CAN PICK UP SMALL STATIONARY LINES AND FIRST AID AT QUITE CHEAP PRICES SO SOMETIMES ITS GOOD TO HAVE A LITTLE LOOK AROUND.
What to pay: WE SHOPPED AROUND AND THIS ONE SEEMED THE CHEAPEST AND LOOKED THE CLEANEST TOO

I found this little shop down a side street in Sanur. It is on the way to INNA SHINDU BEACH HOTEL. The guy who owns it is really nice.
He has a selection of bags, belts, wallets, sandals, shoes etc for sale. You can order a leather jacket or dress to be made for you.
I have bought leather bags from him 2 years in a row now. Make sure you bargain with him. Of course the more you buy, the better the deal.
He told me that he's negotiating a deal to move to another shop out on the main street soon., hoping for more business.

While you're wandering along the beachfront at Sanur, make sure you stop for a look at Tina's Shop. She is next to The Besakih Hotel. She's not pushy like a lot of the other people hanging around the beach who want to drag you off to their shops. She will either try to sell you something or offer to give you a massage. She's lovely, but do remember to bargain with her.
What to buy: Tina has a lot of sarongs, dresses, skirts, pants or evn men's shirts. She also has kites that her son makes.
