All: A Shoppers Paradise

by shelnlin

Shops in Bali are a shopper's dream. They are affordable and there is so much to choose from on this little Island. Like many other places in Asia, Bali carries it's own designer fake gear and some of it pretty good. T shirts were a particuarly good buy and their cotton has stood the test of time even 6 years after my trip to Bali. Will add more to this page soon.

Everywhere: Say no if you don't want it!

by redhotwax

Everywhere around Bali people will want to sell you something. And most of the time, you won't want it! I know it's difficult to say no to these people as they almost beg you to buy their stuff, but don't be pushed into buying something out of pity! If you do choose to get something, make sure you haggle down as much as possible, and if they persist, just walk away, they'll either start lowering their prices big time or they'll give up.

Kuta Square: Armani, Oakley, Nike

by redhotwax

If you like shopping the top brands, you can do so right on Bali! Head on down to Kuta Square and all the brands are there. In fact, Nike and Adidas have their own 'superstores' in Bali. There's Armani and Versace as well as many other stores. During the Great Bali Sale in June-August there's lots of discounts, and lots of products are a lot cheaper than in the rest of the world.

Everywhere: Haggle!

by redhotwax

All around Bali, there's people who'll want to sell you something! Be sure to haggle down the price! Start with 25% or even 10% of what they're asking. Don't pay more than 50% of what they initially asked! Walk away and the price will drop with every step you take! It's a sport, and you'll get better at it with practice, but you're well behind the locals. ;)

Oooops! I forgot my sunglasses!

by balisunshine

No need to worry if you did.Plenty of them for sale here.15,000 Rp? 25,000 Rp? You get them dirt cheap here. But don't expect for them to last a life time. You get what you pay for.But if on holidays, you won't need them forever. They may be bit more expensive if you are in a touristy area.Prices mentioned above are Balinese prices. So, be smart, shop smart and negotiate the price.

All shops: Discovery Plaza

by stedeb

There are many sotres in the plaza some more expensive than others. It is a pleasant place to spend a couple of hours out of the heat. The department store upstairs sells a variety of things we have purchased crockery teapot, coffee pot, sugar bowl , creamer all very reasonabley priced and packaged to bring straight home in our luggage. Anything an avaerage department store sells. They sell clothing, sports gear, lingerie, sunglasses surf wear, souviners, linen & crockery. Various

Supermarket: Discovery Plaza

by stedeb

Ther supermarket below the plaza sells just about everything you need while on holidays soap, shower gel, sunscreens, moisturisers, soft drinks, alcohol & water. We make this our first point of call to stock up on water and drinks it is much cheaper than the hotel mini bar. I stock up on my toiletries to bring home as they are pretty cheap. There is also a souvenir shop with fixed prices much more than you would pay on the street but if you need quick souvenire without the hassle of bartering there is plenty of choice.

Vinotti Living: Lovely homewares

by stedeb

Cool upmarket shop with some lovely pieces at very reasonable prices. Prices are fixed and not open to negotiation. Things we have bought include large 3d silver Balinese wedding mask all framed, unusual coins all framed, clocks, photo frames, leather place mats, glass candle holders, and fabric place mats. Anything you buy will bo wrapped in bubble wrap and boxed ready to take on the flight home. They also sell furniture, crockery & cutlery but we found these to be a little more expensive. The things you purchase here are much more upmarket than the stuff on the streets so the price is set and non negotiable but still well priced for things you wont see at home.
