Niconico: Feelin’ Hot to trot!

by balisunshine

If you happen to encounter romance while in Bali and just don’t have that special, something sexy to wear for that unique night, you might have some difficulties finding a place where to buythat special under garment. There are a few shops here and there that sell lingerie, but usually they are of bad quality and style. One place that may be of help isNiconico which carries several tempting options of good quality and total sexiness.Right across the street,is also the Niconico Beachwear. Most lingerie items are imported. 200,000 Rp and up

Kuta Kidz: Lovely children's clothes at reasonable prices

by Wild_Orchid

Updated: July 2007Was informed that Kuta Kidz has changed its name to Pokito and Qii. The Kuta Kidz shop at the corner of Bemo is now owned by someone else. As I have not visited for quite a while, I can't confirm whether this information is true. Anyway, do check out the shops when you're in Bali.Beautifully designed casual t-shirts, tops, dresses and beachwear for kids and babies. The colours and designs are very tasteful and quality is good for what you pay. You would be able to buy clothes for kids from age 1 mth to 10 years old. Some of the clothes are really tiny, so they fit Asians and smaller sized Caucasians kids very well.I was here in 1996 and bought some lovely clothes for the kids (when they were just babies!), and it was certainly nice to revisit and find that the store is still around. Now they have two stores in Kuta-they carry similar stock, but one has more beachware....

Nawa Sanga / Belts Heaven: If the belt fits, wear it!

by balisunshine

You’ll find plenty of fashion options to buy in Bali. But sometimes finding that right storethat has what you need, can be a bit time consuming. There are plenty of shops that sell cheap belts with beaded colors, but for leather belts with a sense of styleare a bit more difficult to find.A great shop with plenty of options available, and that also sell wholesale is:Nawa Sanga / Belts Heavenlocated right across Double Six Road. Most belts vary from 200,000 Rp to 300,000 Rp.

Topshop & Dorothy Perkins: Young peoples stores

by stedeb

Both these English chain stores have also opened in Discovery Plaza only on a small scale. We checked out both stores and to be honest we found them over priced and selling nothing we hadnt seen at home here in Aus or lots of other stores in Bali. However that does not mean the tennagers in the family will not find something to their liking.

Marks & Spencer in Bali!!

by stedeb

There is a small M&S store opened in Discovery Plaza selling a samll range of ladies & mens wear including beach wear, underwear & bath toiletries. Can't say there were any good bargans to be had but if you are looking for something a bit different than you can find at home maybe this is the place there were always plenty of people making purchases when we went in. It certsainly isnt bargain shopping but I managed to pick up 2 tops simply because they were a bit different to what I can get at home I paid approx $AU55. They also had a sale on any 3 products for the price of 2 I purchased 3x500ml bottles of creme bath $AU20

SOGO: Underneath Discovery Plaza

by stedeb

This new store has opened underneath Discovery Plaza where the supermakret used to be. This shop sells lots of good quality stuff great shoes for men and women, clothing, bags, luggage, underwear but no children's wear or cosmetics. We found the prices to be just as competative as Centro upstairs but the layout is much more upmarket. The clothing on sale is much more superior to stuff sold in Matahari other than the genuine luggage or handbags which are the same. The shoes on sale here rivaled Bangkok and I bought 3 pairs they have god size ranges and plenty to choose from. The prices were good I paid approx $AU20 a pair.

Ubud Market: A labyrinth of scents and color

by gypsysoul73

Also along Jl Raya and no more than a 2 minute walk from the Bungalows is the Ubud Market. This was easily one of the places I was most excited to visit. In fact, we went to the market three times, once every day that we were there. Marilyn, the sweet lady manager of our bungalows, taught us an invaluable lesson in one of her many emails to me before my trip: always start your haggling with 30% of their asking price, you will usually end up agreeing at 50%. They are always willing to sell even at the smallest of profits, if they don't agree to what you're willing to pay that means it really is too low. Armed with this strategy and some techniques I've learned through the years in dealing with persistent-to-the-point-of-being-downright-rude vendors under my belt, I proceeded with confidence. Looking back now I realize I should have expected it but during that first visit, I was taken by...
