WATER SPORTS

by ancient_traveler

Diving and snorkelling. At Sanur or Tanjung benoa Beach you can hire the necessary equipment, either right on the beach front, at beach club or at one of the hotel-run dive concern. While most of the centres do offer International (PADI) approval, be sure to check their PADI RESORT CODE., as well as insurance and medical facilities.Surfing & body boarding. If you don’t have your own board, check out the tourist beaches such as Kuta and Sanur for rental. Most boards for rent are in reasonable condition and prices are negotiable. bali beaches (we went to kuta and dreamland) are fun for surfing.. especially for beginners.. not too big waves (well, it was good when i was there..).. and lots of surf schools who will guarantee that you will be able to stand on the board by the end of the day.. ;) anyway, after a few tumble in the water, u'll be ok.. surfboards are available for rent on just about any beach.. we paid 20k rp for a body board.. surfing lessons starts at around usd20..

Training with Made

by balisunshine

Sometimes we need a little bit of motivation;a slight correction on our posturea little push, push to work out at the gym.A great and economical trainer is Made.He usually trains at the Lotus Gym located in Padma but for an extra fee, he can go to you if you are in another locationor work out at another gym.1 - 2 -3 and GO!

Staying fit in Bali

by balisunshine

The body building or gym craze in Baliis nothing to be compared to the one seen in South Beach. And eating the fried food in the local warung,is probably not the best ingredient to pursue the South Beach Diet. But, if you are one that wants to keep in shape, there are a few options out there. The most favorite one amongst the men isThe Hammerhead Gym located in Kuta. This gym probably offers the largest assortments of machines. And along with the sounds of weights being lifted,it has the largest variation of sounds of males full of testosterone moaning and groaningto that famous tune of ‘No pain, no gain’Hammerhead boasts the first Balinese, Mr. Natural Olympia 2005, Komang Arnana walking the floor whilst choosing his next machine to work out on.Or maybe training a brave ‘affictionato’ body builder to be.He offers his services, as a trainer which, which, has earned him the title as the...

Climbing the Agung Volcano, Home of the Gods

by balisunshine

The Balinese say this volcanois sacred and spiritual. The climb:You arrive at the base of the volcano at 2 am,near the Temple. We met the guide, grabbed our backpacksand began the climb. The climb up took roughly 4 hoursat a steady speed.Tip: Bring lots of layers,as you climb above the clouds you will feel chilly. Also bring flashlights.Preferably ones that clip on to the hat or clothing. The full moon was largeand luminous and the stars provided light, natural beauty and a heightened sensory experience. The first third of the climb is the most difficult,as you are regulating your breathand establishing your 'zone'.Bring water, band-aids andcarbohydrates for fuel and energy. The second third of the climb is thru the clouds. The last third is rock climbing with a steep pitch and is considered free-climbing by my companion'Dr. Eddie', the volcano master. The top is absolutely gorgeousand we arrived...

Surfing at Kuta / Legian Beach

by yipsufen

Surfing has really gained popularity in today's Bali. As the sun approaches the horizon, you can see line of young Balinese men approaching the beach on their surfboards, controlling them with the same gracefullness as in their traditional dances, mastering the waves and penetrating the tubes. Bali is popular for surfers all year round, so you will have the chance to see surfers in action out at the waves.SURFING & BODY BOARDING - Padang Padang, Nusa Lembongan & Uluwatu for the pros, Kuta & Legian Beach good for beginners, Medewi Beach for amateurs, Nusa Dua for experienced surfers. Canggu for experienced surfers. Popular with the locals. Best times are from September to March.
