On the slopes of Gunung Batukau, is Pura Luhur Batukau. The mountain is very important to the Balinese because it is the source of irrigation water to the south and west of it.The temple is a very important temple because it is next to the highest temple on the western part of Bali. The forest and green moss are the decorations for this important temple.

Off the beaten track of Balian

by balisunshine Written Nov 23, 2006

In the autumn you can visit Negara (Perancak)
    for the mekepung (buffalo races).

You can head up into the hills
for some rice field views and
    cooler air.

The Pura Rambut Siwi to the west in an important temple.
Make sure you bring a Sarong.
