Dinner at Jimbaran Bay

by AngMimi

After paying a visit to Uluwatu, go straight to Jimbaran Bay to have seafood dinner. You can choose any live seafood and you can have it fried or grilled. The whole place was so lively, with live cultural dance, fire dance etc..I wish I could stay the whole night there. Have a chance to take your pictures with the dancers..

Pura Uluwatu Temple

by AngMimi

Pura Uluwatu, located on the southwest most tip of Bali, Pura Uluwatu is a large temple complex built of carved grey coral limestone on top of a cliff. “Ulu” means head, and “Watu” means rock; the temple at “the head of the rock” stands atop a sheer cliff rising two hundred feet above the Indian Ocean. Aha.., you can see a large numbers of mischievous monkeys, who snatch things from visitors and get food in return, be careful. Sunset is spectacularly beautiful at Uluwatu. It is surely one of the best Indonesian points to watch sunset but I cant see it that evening..

Tip Photo
Kuta Beach

by AngMimi

Most famous and beautiful beach in Bali, the Kuta Beach was one of Indonesia’s major tourist destinations, it has long sandy beach with many choice of hotels, restaurants and bars, and is near to Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport.

Tip Photo
Pura Ulun Danu Bratan (part 2)

by tim07

The temple's main attraction is the two Hindu thatched-roof merus. This is the classic Bali photo opportunity, the two merus reflecting in the lake against a mountain backdrop. People were queing up to have their picture taken.

Tip Photo
Pura Ulun Danu Bratan

by tim07

This Hindu-Buddhist temple is one of the most important temples in Bali. It was founded in the 17th century and is dedicated to Dewi Danu, goddess of water. On entering you pass through manicured gardens that lead you to the lake.

Barong and Rangda dance

by tim07

In the village of Batubulan the Barong and Rangda dance takes place for the tourists daily at 9.30 am. The dance lasts about a hour. It depicts the battle between Barong (shaggy lion) who represents good an Rangda (wicked witch) who represents evil. It's worth visit to see the wonderful colourful costumes. Before it starts you can pick up a leaflet that details the events of each act.

Tip Photo
Pura Taman Ayun

by tim07

This vast temple is surrounded by a moat and was the main temple of the Mengwi kingdom. The temple was restored in 1937 and the large open grassy areas are a delight to explore. Due to its size it wasn't crowded and I found the atmosphere there peaceful and relaxing.

Tip Photo
Pura Taman Ayun, inner courtyard

by tim07

The inner courtyard is surrounded on three sides by a moat. On it you'll find several Bale (wooden pavilions). You'll also find Meru Towers, these are shrines to the deities of Bali's mountains. Although you can't enter the inner courtyard, you can get great views of it from the footpath that goes around it.

Tip Photo
Pura Tanah Lot

by tim07

Set on a small island 100m from the coast, the temple is one of Bali's most famous landmarks. The most popular time to visit is at sunset. Crowds gather to watch the silhouette of the temple against a setting sun. Unfortunately when I visited the area was covered in cloud. To get to the temple you pass through many handicraft, souvenir and food & drink stalls. Once at the beach it's possible to walk to the temple at low tide. Even though I didn't see a sunset and it was crowded, I still found it a magical place to visit.

Tip Photo
Candikuning Market

by tim07

Candikuning is on the western side of Lake Bratan. The market here is full of fresh fruit and vegetables. There are also stalls selling plants, snacks and souvenirs. Surrounding the market are several restaurants.
