Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest

by tim07

This is a small forest surrounded by rice fields, next to the forest is Alas Kedaton Temple. On arrival you encounter many stalls selling souvenirs as well as food and drink. For a small fee you have the option of hiring a local guide, you can also by food to give to the monkeys. On entering the temple area you will be surrounded by many monkeys running around, looking for food or just sitting still observing you. Beware one of them may try to snatch at your belongings or possibly jump on you. I walked round the outside of the temple and took a look in the forest. Here in the treetops were colonies of bats roosting.

Air Panas Banjar

by tim07

The hot springs seemed popular with both locals and tourists. They consist of three pools surrounded by lush vegetation. In the highest pool hot sulphurous water is spurted out of eight carved dragon-heads. The water then overflows into a second larger pool. To take a dip in the water you must wear a swimsuit and soap isn't allowed. There is a restaurant here as well as rooms where you can spend the night.

Lovina

by tim07

Lovina is the name used for a stretch of the coast of North Bali. The beach resorts here were low rise and the area seemed a lot more relaxed than the resorts in the south. Whilst here I had a meal at the Aditya Beach Resort next to the black sandy beach.

Gitgit

by tim07

Situated on the road south from Singaraja is the waterfall at Gitgit. The path from the roadside to the waterfall is about 400m, some parts can be a bit slippy. Lining the path are many shops and stalls seling souvenirs and refreshments. On reaching the 40m high waterfall you are engulfed in a cooling mist. There is a charge to visit the waterfall.

Kintamani

by tim07

The village of Kintamani is situated on the crater rim of Gunung Batur volcano. It's a popular destination due to the spectacular views it has of Gunung Batur, Lake Batur and Gunung Abang. There are many places here to both eat and take in the view. Unfortunately I visited as the area was covered in cloud and was caught in a torrential downpour. I spent my time in a restaurant sheltering from the rain.

Balaniese dance, temple and monkeys

by livinmydreams

Uluatu is a temple about an hour outside of Seminyak. The temple sits on a cliff at the edge of the ocean. You get to see a temple, walk among the monkies and see a traditional bali dance. It is a must do!The taxi ride is $270 rupi, I paid $400 since my taxe driver waited for me and was so nice!

Furniture shopping

by livinmydreams

Bali has a lot of great furniture stores and it's a great place to outfit your home. RIM Cargo can coordinate picking up all of your items from each store you buy stuff at and then get it shipped back home to you. A lot of the furniture stores are on Raya Kerobokan Street.

White secluded Beach

by lotharscheer

There is nice clean beach, Pasir Putih about 5 km north of Candi Dasa (turn of from the main road to Amlapura at Bug Bug, very bad access road), no accomodation, only some warungs for simple food and drinks, no public transport.

PURA TAMAN ALIT

by RoyJava

Too many tourists think that visiting one Balinese temple would be enough and, will avoid other temples for a visit. It's true architecture and sculpture are inextricably bound together at Bali island, though most temples tell its own story, often almost overwhelming in its detail and intricacy. The Pura Taman Alit near Singaraja, North-Bali, I had to experience because of the dedication to the Javanese Sea-Goddess Ratu Kidul. Even not that many Balinese people know about this small, beautiful temple which has been discovered by the priest Jro Petapakan because of a natural well with sweet water (most wells contain salt water). He explored the place and dedicated it to the Javanese Spirit-Queen. Every Full Moon eve he is preparing a special offering, doing some healings, prophecies and other spiritual causes (like a performance as crocodile, monkey, lion). He officially got the name of...
