    Public Boats

by arikde Written May 23, 2003

Public boats leaving for Nusa Lembongan (see Off The Beaten Path Tips) leave from Sanur port. They are cheap but takes around 2 hours. Make sure that your backpack is water proof - and don't have too much baggage - while there are plans to build a proper pier, as of now, you basically walk through shallow water to climb the boat and can get very wet in the process.

    Travel around Bali

    by ullfri49 Updated Apr 19, 2015

Top travel around Bali is at best with a good driver. Ask at hotel or homestay or at gallery next.
I strong recommend not to rent a car!
It is special driving in Indonesia and in Bali too: The practical rule of the strongest - and so the trucks are at first. The other - transport cars are sometimes overload to much, und very unshure - see the photo....
And at third the adventure of driving at the left side.

While driving with driver ("dengan sopir") -
you can talk, have free hands to make photos, have time to feel special Bali on the way.
And last but not least- you will support a workplace.

Bali on the way, here people going to a ceremony Bali main street near Gianyar Busy Bali streets, traffic jam..

    The popular choice

by kyoub Updated Jun 27, 2004

    3 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The most popular way to get around Bali is by motor bike.
They carry the whole family on those things.
You never know what you will see besides the driver.
    Please don't try this yourself.

It is safe and cheap to use (the only way) ferry to get to Bali by land, which is i did once. Only Rp 4.000,- per person, and take only about 30 minutes ride, from Banyuwangi to Gilimanuk.

    Feels the wind blows..

Take a cab whenever you have a longer way or simply just don't want to walk. It's extremely cheap. For a 20 minute cab ride (which is obviously already rather long) you pay about 2 Euros.
