Bali driving tips

Bali driving tips – Take note of several important points while driving in Bali . It is not unusual for cars and bikes to swerve into your lane without indication. A system of “sharing lane” has developed because there are often obstacles on the sides of the road, such as parked cars or the frequent procession of food trolleys and paraphernalia salesman. That’s okay if you’re used to it but can be quite a shock to the new driver in Bali you need Bali driving tips ! Be aware that drivers from side streets often don’t look when joining a main road and the larger vehicle is king of the road. Quite often, red traffic lights are considered “as suggestion” and there are a few place where traffic in the left line. When going around curves on mountainous roads as driver commonly drive in the middle of the road may turn or continue straight through while the light is red remember to sound your...

Best Driver in Bali

by weetourist

If you are visiting Bali, the most economical way to get around is to hire a driver for a half-day or a full-day excursion so you can go wherever you want for a set price. And the bonus is that you get to learn about the culture! You will see drivers everywhere you go...and they are all clamoring for business. We weren't sure which ones were legitimate and safe, so we only used a driver who was recommended to us. (Taxis aren't expensive for quick trips but they can add up and it is not safe for foreigners to rent cars and drive themselves, as roads are difficult to navigate and very crowded.) Drivers charge $40-60 for a full day, so be careful not to hire the hotel drivers, as they will charge more. One hotel we stayed at told us it was $100 for a full day! We loved our driver and learned a great deal about Bali, as he spoke English surprisingly well - better than most other drivers, in...

Experiencing Drivers With Distinction

by wdominic

We've just returned to Kuala Lumpur and had a really fantastic time touring Bali with Webee from “Drivers With Distinction”. Dean from Bali along with Webee and other fellow drivers have formed a group of drivers called “Drivers With Distinction” to brand and position themselves. We experienced Drivers With Distinction through Webee who picked us up from the airport and also provided a send off to the airport. He was a great choice for us as assigned by Dean. Webee's professional service delivery is beyond "just driving" and to describe it - "We sincerely felt like a friend was sending us off at the airport". He took care of us very well during our 3 days on the road. Little things like providing us water, offering to wait for us after shopping & answering my numerous questions on Bali life & culture conveyed much professionalism.Webee was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and very...

New Rules for Motorbikes and Fines for Offences.

by BesarRahasia

This is up to date information as of December 13th 2009, and is split into 2 sections 1/ MotorbikesIt is now legally required that all motorbikes have headlights ON at all times whilst on the road, even during the day. There is a grace period of 3 months, where warnings will be issued, however after that the fines are steep.100,000rp for driving in the day without headlights250,000rp for drivinig in the night without headlights (also rear lights at night also needed, so be sure to check they are working, when you hire the bike).250,000rp for not wearing a crash helmet (including passenger) this rule has been around for always, but not enforced too much, this is now about to change, 250,000rp for not wearing a shirt or blouse (including passenger) or some other top, (in other words naked chest/torso for men, and bikini top for women, no longer tolerated)2/ Driving in GeneralFiltering...

Taxi (Takis)

by leanne_pearc

You will always find a taxi in Bali and they are cheap. Some work on Metre's and others on a fixed price that you negotiate.Whilst walking around some taxi's will 'toot there horn' indicating they are free.

Motorbikes in Bali

by balisunshine

One thing that may astonish you while visiting Bali, are the amount of motorbikes here.Because of easy payment plans offered to the Indonesianson buying these motorbikes/scootersit’s a first option for many here. You will see whole families of 4riding on the scooter, and even people carrying furniture or maybe their pet dogs.In many cases you will find their ruthless driving on the roada bit of a hazard, even when driving a car. When they come pulling out of the left side, they may not even look to their right to see what traffic is coming from the right. So drive extra carefully and keep your eyes open!

Get Driver in Bali to make most of your stay

by lklai

My husband and I were in Bali in June this year, and saw most of the sights by hiring a car and driver. Road signs are not the best in Bali and getting a car and driver to drive you around will allow you to enjoy the sights without having to concentrate on the roads. It's also the cheapest way to see things at your leisure (esp. if you are travelling with family), compared with joining those with group/day tours that pick you up from your hotel. Instead of joining such tours, eg. to see a Legong / Barong dance for USD30 per person, we hired him for the day (for USD35 as driver/guide and car) and got him to bring us to any performance or sight we want. Driving around small back roads to see villages and people, we were able to stop anytime we want to take photos. Our driver, Ketut Mendra, is also a licenced guide who speaks good English and drives a Toyota 7-seater with good...
