To Drive or to Be Driven thats the question part1

by BesarRahasia

There are many ways to get around (just like anyother place in the world, perhaps the main difference is IN INDONESIA INSURANCE COVER IS OPTIONAL It amazes me how many visitors either don't care about, or don't realise the possible concequences. They happily rent a motor bike, or car and drive around completely uninsured, even renting a car with driver doesn't give you total security, becauseYOU as the renter are liable, for all damages and claims. If nothing happens then OK, lucky, but if something serious happens, the concequences are unimaginable. At best you pay for all damages out of your own pocket, you may spend 1 to 2 years in Jail, at worst your family would be left with the concequences and expense. Holiday insurance may cover medical expenses you should check with your holiday insurance company. But it certainly won't cover for any damages or compensation claims, I am sureSo if...

I flew Garuda last month to Bali (from Singapore). It was a 2.5 hrs flight and the service was excellant. After a lot of negative review of this airlines in the western world, Garuda authorities have cleansed and purged up the services. I dont see any problem flying Garuda

walk walk walk around bali paradise

by zilch86

last week i was in bali with my buddies. it turned into an amazing vacation bcoz of people there are very nice and treat everyone of us kindly. to travel around i hired a driver or u can call him as tourist guide bcoz he helped us a lot. imagine, he recommended us to rent a car (suzuki jimmy) which only cost me rs 150000 per day and he drove us to a nice budget hotel(legian street, kuta) and the rental is only around USD 20 PER DAY!!! very cheap isn't it? for u guys traveller, u can contact him 'bapak nusa' 081337488465 or 0361241668...or if you calling from your country use 6281337488465. and just call him one or two days before your flight to bali, tell him what time u you will arrived there and he will pick u up at the ngurah rai airport upon your arrival!!

Planning a day trip or just shopping?

by Poquita

If you have planned a day trip eg. Kintamani, Ubud markets, temples at Ubud and Kintamani, Gold and Silver shops etc, it is best to arrange a driver for the day. They will probably ask for 400'000rp or so. You want to get out of it for about 250'000rp. Remember they have to put alot more fuel in for a big trip, rather than hanging out all day until you're ready to go to the next shop in Kuta. and if they look after you, you can always book them for another day trip without having to haggle too extensively and at the end of it all it is nice to tip them and share lunch with them.**If you are just going to be poking around in the small shops and maybe buying a few things then I would use a gold or blue taxi when needed if travelling from the other side of the island (nusa dua or sanur) to kuta/legian area, once there you can walk most places, but if shopping gets too heavy then you might...

TRAVELING ALL OVER BALI

by ancient_traveler

Car hire. Most of the rental cars are in decent shape, BUT you should check thoroughly before signing and form. Be sure to always travel with your international drivers lisence.Mororbike rental. As with hire cars, you can find bikes for rent almost everywhere. You should always check the bike before parting with your cash.Bicycle/ mountain bike. Cycling can be a cheap and enjoyable way, although you do have to be quite fit to ride around the central, hilly regions. The northern coastal roads are ideal for longer trips. You can find bike rental shops in all the main tourist open.

Putu Sudiana

by SFHulaGIrl

In 2008, my friend & I had hired Putu to pick us up from the airport & drive us to our hotel in Legian. His rate was 40,000 rp per hour. Since my friend had a slight delay when obtaining currency & a Visa when trying to exit the airport, the wait was longer than anticipated. We ended up paying him about 160,000 rp. Though Putu was very nice & gave us his card, in case we wanted to do tours with him, he did not show up for the tour that I had arranged in advance with him -- to Tanah Lot. As with another driver, he neither showed up at the hotel or called. My hotel (Casa Padma) would gladly have found another driver to take me to Tanah Lot, but I made alternate plans for that morning.

Nengah Polos

by SFHulaGIrl

In 2007, I had hired Nengah Polos to pick me up from the airport & deliver me to my hotel in Seminyak. His rate was 65,000 rp. The next morning I had him drive me from Seminyak to Ubud; his rate was 150,000 rp. In 2008, I again contacted him via E-mail to inquire as to whether he could pick me up from the airport & take me to my hotel in Legian. He suggested that I take a cab instead. However, we did make plans for him to drive my friend & me from our hotel to Uluwatu & Jimbaran Bay for 200,000 rp. He did not show up at our hotel, nor did he call. We had also made plans for him to transport us from Legian to Ubud for 250,000 rp. Once again, he did not show up at our hotel, nor did he call. I found this surprising, since most of the drivers that I'd hired in Bali were very dependable. In both instances, our hotel (Courtyard Hotel & Apartments) immediately found another driver to take us...
