I had a good time shopping here. Many things to see and buy with a very reasonable price. Just bargain nicely and reasonably...also make sure you're the no 1 customer...they rarely turned you down...it'll bring bad luck according to the sellers. Go to the 2nd floor...stairs to go up is a bit hidden...there's one just near the temple at the market. Sellers on the upper level...they're more willing to give even cheaper price since not many want to climb up there.

Ubud is just a small town that sprawls around a few kilometres. The town has three main streets: Jl Raya Ubud, Jl Monkey Forest and Jl Hanoman. Along these roads you'll found different types of accommodation to choose from (one of which I would consider on the next visit is Ubud Village Hotel - sister hotel of Ubud Village Resort and Spa), shops selling so many things: batik, sarong, clothes (one of which I found interesting was halter neck dresses made from batik silk-the price is around Rp200,000.00 n above since it's silk), tshirts (it's a heaven for women clothes - I found the designs n styles quite pleasing), wood carvings, sculptures, paintings, house decorative items such as lamps, table runners, cushion cover, table mats, woven items such as baskets, handbags, place mats, cutleries organizers, tissue boxes n etc. You'll found that these things are sold in either a normal looking shop or in a boutique with a nice interior which prices much higher than the rest. Along these roads you can also found pharmacies, restaurants and cafes.
Walking can be quite challenging though...since at a few locations somewhere along these streets you have to go up and down the hills...anyway, with the nice things to see on the left and right side of the road...you'll forget the exhaustion coz you'll be too busy looking around.
I enjoyed walking around Ubud little town. Other than seeing all those mentioned above, I get to see Balinese ladies taking prayer at the nearby temples...placing offerings at certain locations, locals balancing basket on their heads...get to see closer the life of a Balinese in Ubud.

It's a market selling so many things...wood carvings, batik shirts, batik silk, sarongs, paintings, home decorative items such as table runners, cushion covers, place mats, lamps, woven bags, woven baskets, beaded bangles, silver jewelleries, local made clothes and etc. You can find many things here to be taken home as souvenirs :)
All the things sold here are also sold at the shops outside...but prices here are much more reasonable and you can bargain more.
It's a two-storey market...less people go the upper level. I did my shopping on the upper stairs...it was much cheaper than the lower stalls.

I travelled in Indonesia as a tour leader with Dutch tourists for four months. I did a lot of excursions, but my favourite one was the bike tour with Bagi (which I did 4 times). Bagi shows the best parts of the countryside: beautiful rice fields, an organic farm and much more. Together with his knowledge of the Balinese people, this tour is an unforgettable experience. And I almost forget to tell you the best part: after cycling we went to Bagi's house where his wife made the best food of Indonesia!
So when you go to Ubud, don't forget to mail Bagi!

The Monkey Forest is set in a stunning Forest with lots of pathways and stone carvings set through out the forest. You can buy some fruit from park keepers and feed these to the Monkeys.. They sometimes even climb on top of you so you need to keep valuables hidden or they can run of with them ehehe. Also theres a Temple situated in the forest but upon entering you need to wear a sarong which are available at the Temple entrance !!
