There are public bemos that go from DPS airport to Jimbaran and on to Ulu Watu.They don't run in the evening though.
We had a car and driver that took us there from Ubud.

If you are one of those restless surfers,
chasing the waves from one beach to another,
then definitely rent a motorbike!
One with a surf board rack,
of course.
It’s not a bad idea to rent a motorbike, period.
There are several places
around the Uluwatu area that rents them.
It’ll help you get around from one beach to another,
to go eat somewhere else
besides the local warung on the beach,
to maybe go to the internet café,
to buy shampoo…what?
You don’t use shampoo?

It’ always good to
have the number of the local taxi stand.
This particular one is located
next to Padang Padang Beach.
Across from the parking lot.
So, they will know how to find you
if you are staying in the area.

Every time you enter
certain surf beaches,
such as at Uluwatu, Bingin or Dreamland,
there is a toll that needs to be paid.
Make sure you have the change!

Addresses in Bali in general,
don’t make a lot of sense.
Then, if you decide to take a cab
from another area from where you want to go,
they will most probably say at first,
that they know where they are going.
But once you are approaching your destination,
they will start looking a bit bewildered.
Like traveling in a maze.
In the Bukit area,
there are a lot of signs
indicating different hotels/bungalows.
So, you may need to keep your eyes open.

There isn’t a real petrol station
after you have climbed up the hill to Bukit,
but there are plenty of local stops
where they sell petrol by 1 liter or 2 liter bottles.
Prices are slightly higher
than on lower ground.
At the time of writing this,
for 2 liters the price is 12,000 Rp
in the Bukit area.
2,000 more that other places in Bali.
They say that the petrol
sold in these bottles
might be a bit watered downed.
But hey! You’re probably
renting the motorbike anyway.
What counts is that you get there.
Right?

Walking will be a main source
of transportation if
you plan to lodge yourself
at the beach right in front
of the waves at Bingin,
Dreamland or Uluwatu.
Don’t get me wrong,
it’s helpful to still
have another means
of transportation in case
you need to start chasing the waves
all over the place.
At low tide
you can around to most beaches
along the shore,
but there is a deep area after Padang Padang.
And if you do get bored of ‘just’ waves,
or need something besides your surf board,
it’s good to have wheels.

If you are staying in the Balangan area,
a good number to have just in case
is of the local taxi stand.

Since they have started
the construction at Dreamland,
they have closed off the access
to Balangan via that property.
BUT, the did built a new,
paved road leading to it
starting at the crossing
located a Nirmala grocery store.
The road drives through some
beautiful vegetation and a Balinese village.
It just takes longer to get there,
if you are coming from
any of the other beaches
further down south.

If you don’t plan
to stay at one of
the beach front warungs
and never move from there,
then you will be needing some wheels.
If you are not a pack
of surfer dudes traveling together,
then a motorbike is essential.
Make sure you get that
International Driver’s Permit, though
or you’ll wind up paying extra cigarette money
to the cops for not following the rules.
A good place to call for a motorbike is
Nyoman at Padang Padang Inn.
This Balinese has impressed me
at his business styles.
He’s on top of it,
in comparison to local standards.
