BANGKA, TIN MINING
by ancient_traveler
Welcome to the tin mines of Bangka where miners dig deep into the earth in search of tin ore — the raw material for the metal used in coating soft drink cans and solders for computer chips. The Indonesian Government has this habit [and has done for decades] of destroying the environment without consequence just for the sake of money. It’s okay to trade but do it sensibly and without the resulting devastation of the natural beauty the country posses’.
Bouldering at the beach
by apple-melati
You can find beautiful granite boulders everywhere in Belitung's beaches. If you like bouldering, this is definately the place for you! The granite boulders spread along side the beach. We found a good rock for bouldering at the corner of Kelayang beach. A perfect rock to climb and a good spot to watch the sunset too. At first, seem like bouldering shoes were not needed but the rocks were sharp, so for better friction on the rock, and to step onto the little footholds, we got back to the cottage to get the bouldering shoes. Was a very fun bouldering day.

Capturing the Sunrise and Sunset
by apple-melati
A nice sunrise is a sign of a good weather for the rest of the day. We're lucky to capture one of the best sunrise we've ever seen so far at Tanjung Kelayang beach. The red lights reflected on the water turned everything red, such a super cool image. When the sun's going a bit up, some part of the sand still looks golden. The sunset is best seen from Tanjung Tinggi beach, here we can watch the sund went down by sitting in between giants rocks.

Swimming to the white granite boulders
by apple-melati
These white granite boulders stand pretty far from the beach so if you wanna reach it you need to swim there. The waves during the day usually not too high, in fact sometimes there's no wave at all. When the weather is good: cloudless sky, clear blue water, swimming to these white granite boulders can be fun :-)
Hunting Star Fish
by apple-melati
On my first day in Belitung island, while walking at the Tanjung Kelayang beach, I found a huge orange star fish. I thought she was dead because she was not moving at all when I touched it. My boyfriend asked me to leave it alone and so we went. The next morning when we're jogging at the beach I saw the same orange starfish at exactly the same place, then I thought she must be really dead. Later that day I found out that we could find many starfish at every beach we visited. These starfishes has some different colors too. What a beatiful creatures..
Tanjung Binga
by littlening
One of the main white shandy beaches. Nice place for just swim around. I felt it like swimming in a swimming pool since the wave is very smooth.when we get bored, we can just order fresh coconut water. Fresh from the tree.. add some ice cube then.. nyummmm... fresh and relaxing. When the hungry stomach's ringing. we dried up and run to the homey restaurant next to the beach. It's really really homey, that it doesn't look like a restaurant. all the food is freshly served.

by ukirsari
another nice and lively place that i like so much is exploring tanjung binga with lengkuas island in front of the beach and its lighthouse.there's bugis settlement in the villages of tanjung binga and we can see their ability in making boats also. another place to see the craftmen making boats is in air hitam village. it's situated about 1 hour from tanjung binga.
