    Fatmawati Airport

A convenience traveling from Jakarta to Bengkulu is by an Airliner, there are many airways company take the Route from JAKARTA, Soekarno Hatta airport : Batavia, Sriwi Jaya, Garuda Indonesia or Adam Air.
Note: Batavia and Adam Air now discontinued

With so many airlines, the fare now become competitive, travel by plane to Bengkulu Province now become cheaper and convenience, The schedule are Okey exeption if the weather is not conducive, more over if it is in a rainy season. To get the ticket, it would be better if you by from Travel Agent in Jakarta than buying ticket at the Soekarno Hatta air port, primaily in Peak season, buying at the air port become more expensive, but today you would easily buy a ticket online

Don't Miss the Bus in the Ferry!

by adriansyah Written May 11, 2014
    Bengkulu trip by bus

When you make a trip from the city of Bengkulu to Java by bus, it is necessary to take a ferry in Bakauheni ferry terminal to cross the Sunda strait between Sumatra and Java. It will take about 2 hours to cross the strait, the trip by bus includes the price of the ferry between Bakauheni and Merak. There are frequent ferries between Bakauheni and Merak harbor 24 hours a day. Often, the ferries are very big and have a lot of buses with them, so before leave the buses’ park and go upstairs in the ferry, it’s good to take a picture of the license plate and another of the place where it is parked in order to not get lost and not miss the bus.

    Getting Around Bengkulu By Angkot

A counter at the airport offers rental cars and taxis rides for Rp. 60,000 into downtown. Alternatively, walk down to the road in front of the terminal building to the main road and turn to your right as you exit the airport and then take a white public city transport locally known as “angkot” (Rp. 3,000) to Terminal Panorama, then take another angkot either yellow or green angkot (Rp. 3,000) to the downtown. This alternative way is much more cheaper than taking regular airport taxis.

The most fun way to get around is by angkot (public city transport). You should tell the driver where you’re going before get on. All rides cost Rp. 3,000 regardless of the distance. It is strongly recommended to give extra Rp. 2,000 or Rp. 4,000 to the driver if you bring a lot of luggage with you. Hope it helps.

Common van for rent in Bengkulu
    2 more images

Hiring a car and driver is a convenient way to get around Bengkulu and its neighbor cities. The hire of self-drive car is rarely available in Bengkulu especially for foreigners. It is more common and a better option to hire a car plus driver, which saves a lot of inconvenience. General rates for a 6-passanger-van start from Rp. 250,000 (about USD 25) up to Rp. 450,000 (about USD 45) per day, all rates exclude fuel and the driver’s meals. Car hire rates in Bengkulu are more expensive than rates in Java and Bali.
