Mixed in with the uncountable souvenir stalls are a section of stalls selling food, offering local fare such as Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice), Bihun Goreng (Fried Rice Vermicelli) etc. There are plenty of stalls to choose from, so pick one that appeal to your eyes. A meal here will not cost you more than 6000 Rupiahs; cheap, tasty and good.
All you need to do is turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the many touts and beggars who will come running to you. After a while, they will get the message that you are not to be disturbed.
When we touched down Yogjakarta Airport, we wanted to try some local food for lunch. The tour guide brought us here. Nice local restaurant with long tables. It was about 20 mins drive from the airport.
Favorite Dish: Everything tasted good.
We wanted to eat Chinese food in Yogyakarta and the tour guide brought us here. Very good Chinese food. Enjoy all of them. They had different types of local fruit juices. Nice ambience too. The price was also very reasonable to me.
Our tour guide Yanto recommended us this restaurant before we headed to Pawon and Mendut Temple. It was a proper restaurant serving Javanese food. At that time, we were the only customers. I guess it was still early for lunch at 11am.
Favorite Dish: Everything is good because we were all hungry. I had fried noodles, vegetables and satay. Love the dessert too, packed with local cakes and fruit.
We think the food was just mediocre. Nothing to really scream about. We ate there because it was convenient for us. We stayed at the hotel and there was no nearby restaurant.
The dinner on the first night, we had to bring our UNO card game out while waiting for the food to arrive. The service was very slow. However, the it improved on the second night.
The only thing that could redeem this restaurant is the view - Borobudur majestically perched on the hill top. Excellent! Imagine sipping coffee while enjoying this view on a beautiful sunny morning!....
Favorite Dish: Sorry to say none. I rated this restaurant "a great experience" because of the view!
