becakdrivers

by kilat

Most of the becakdrivers don't earn much money. Instead, they are often poor people. They are glad when they see a tourist, because they can try to ask a little bit more than the normal price. Of course, you can negotiate untill you got the lowest price. But you can also choose to give a little help to somebody who needs it. I suggest to negotiate first, because you suppose to do. Then enjoy your trip. But nobody says you are not allowed to give him more after the get out the becak. You can give him a tip because he drove carefully, or because he was nice, or because he didn't try to ask you to much, or because it was so hot, or because you were much heavyer than the Indonesian people, or because it was raining. So, why wouldn't you? For us it is just a little bit, for most of the becakdrivers an important part to survive.
