Well, as a small town which is located along main road between Jakarta-Yogyakarta, exactly at South Central java, there's no extreme difficulties to get there. Just some important things u should notice before so u won't experience unexected bad things. such as stranded in the middle of nowhere hehehehe......
Well, i recomend bus or cars or even motorcycle. The best way to take is using airplane to Jogja, n then using car or bus to Purworejo. As alternative, u could take route from jogja to Magelang at first, visiting Candi Borobudur and many then get purworejo trough Salaman. Magelang-Purworejo is just 44 Kms far, and it only takes less than one hour. But u should be more carefull, coz some part of road is lousy and lil' bit dangerous, bit it has beautiful scenery. So, try it....
If u just want to take a trip around the town, u can try this one. It's so cheap. With only Rp.2000,00 ( about USD 0,2) u can make a single trip. People called it Dokar/ Andong
Many roads are bumpy tough they're not so dangerous. But it's better to be more careful. Enjoy ur visit.
