A bangau in flight

A colony of herons (in Indonesian called bangau) has chosen a few tamarind trees (pohon asam) along Jalan Setiabudi for their home. Every once in a while one of them takes off and flies slowly above the traffic below.
These birds find their food in wetlands and paddy fields. But evidently they feel safe spending their resting time in the city.
Directions: Jalan Setiabudi is the main throughfare south out of town. The trees with the birds are in Banyumanik district, about 300 m north of the Y junction with the Toll Road.
