For us it is very strange to see females but males as well with a thick layer of cream on their face.
Well they don't want a suntanned colour. THey want to be as white as possible. So people make a mixture of ricewater and put it on their face when they leave the house for shopping. The people who can allow it buy products like the one shown in the picture.
It is whitening and nourishing. And the one with milk in it is the most expensive since cowmilc is really expensive and not available on Kalimantan. A can flown over from new zealand cost you about 12000 ir.

Favorite thing: I'm always the first to try out new things.
And you must admit , don't these little 'apples really appealing?
They just arrived at a very nice little shop where we had a break with a teh es. (the local ice tea)
I pointed out that I wanted to taste one. After a bite I was making faces. The little 'apple' seem to have a real bitterly edge. Then a big smile came on the womans face and she opened a little can full of 'sugar' with small pieces of 'orange'. Eager i plunged the 'apple' in it and took a bite. The 'sugar' appeard to be salt and the little orange things where chillipeppers.
Again faces. Then she showed me how the locals eat the things. On a plate a little bit of salt , lots of ketjap manis. But my enthousiasm was already gone.
Again , those stupid white ones were the talk of the town.
The 'apples' are named RUJAK (thank you miss @rie -ukirsari-)
