Favorite thing: There's two branches in Bandun...I think. I only know the one near Pasar Baru...not sure the name of that road...but it's located at the same block as the Pasar Baru n with its big sign board u won't miss it. This place offers good exchange rate. It's close on weekends.

Favorite thing: Most money changers in Bandung close on weekends except Valas Inti Tolindo Money Changer located at Dago Street (the place is right opposite Holiday Inn). Since they're aware that almost all other money changes are close on weekends so they would try to offer a bit low exchange rate...so u should know what to do...bargain harder.

Favorite thing: Hi there,
I am trying to give you some tips and wish that it would be much help for you to plan your tour itineraries.
1. I think the best time to visit Bandung will be on April.
Before you leave Singapore, maybe this tip will be helpful. There are some cheap flight from Changi to Jakarta/online booking such as: www.valuair.com/Tiger airways) or if you want to try flying from Batam island, there are many daily schedulled flight flying to Jakarta as well (SGD 100-110). When you arriving in Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta Int'l airport), just take a daily shuttle van from JKT to BDG > min. 3 persons (drop off to your choice Bandung's hotel) Cipaganti/X-trans etc) which gonna cost each of you: IDR 125000(SGD.25).
2. Place of interest is vary, depending on your interest. If you'd like tracking/hiking, you can take a daily tour package to the northern part of Bandung > Tangkuban Perahu volcanic Mountain, then proceed to Ciater hotspring Spa resort. The other similar place will be "Kawah Putih(white crater) situated at southern part of Bandung.
3.Shopping location for imitation branded Jeans & T-shirt will be spread along at jalan Cihampelas, Jl. Riau (the Herritage/the Summit factory outlets)or simply visit the manufacturer itself namely "Stock Center".
4.I am not reccommend you to buy any pirated DVD/CD
5.Bandung city is situated at 800m above sea level (much higher than Mt Faber), so its quite cool and fresh up here (dont forget to bring your warm jacket along).
6.The best hotel is vary depending on your expectations. If you are the shop addict, hotel grand Serela at Jalan Riau is a good choice,The rate = IDR 400.000/R/N incl.breakfast (Week days), but there will be a surcharged during the week end periods (Fri-Sun).If you love the night live, Kedaton hotel is a perfect choice (IDR 400000/r/n WD)because most of the discotiques are situated at jalan Braga which is a walking distance from the hotel.
Most of the average Bandung's tourist class hotel's rates will be arround SGD 50-60/Room/night including breakfast (Perdana wisata/Mutiara/Anggrek Bidakara/Royal Merdeka Hotels). The standard/supperior ones will be approx.SGD 65-75.00/R/N (Kedaton/Grand Serela/Vue Palace)NB:please check our VThotel info.
So my friend, happy travelling and hope to see you arround.
Kindest regards,
Hariswan

Favorite thing: Bandung is also the region’s center of education as it is home to the Bandung Institute of Technology as well as one of the countries best known universities. Rich natural attractions can be found to the north of the city near the hill resort-village of Lembang, where you can explore the Tangkuban Perahu (volcanic) crater, the Ciater hot water springs, or hike to the many waterfalls to be found in the area. Trips to these exciting places can all be arranged from your hotel “guests service desk”.

Fondest memory: When I arrived to Jakarta to see my fiance, we planned in advance to go sightseeing in Bandung. She knows many places to go in this city and surprised me! What I mean by this is our visit here turned to be wonderful time. Bandung has many places to see and do and is slower pace than Jakarta. Sort of reminds me of Bali.
We stayed at Sangria Resort & Spa for one night and it was very romantic. (see my places to stay review) I WILL BE BACK TO BANDUNG in future trips!

OVER all source of income local villagers came from farming. PADI as a main core in their effort to earn a living. The return, not really good. Imported rice from China and Myanmar much more cheeper then locally produce. They have not much choice since the land just suit for Padi only.

First of January is a public holiday for Indonesia. Last night ( 31st December 1995 ), there are a big crowd whole over the city, peoples are celebrating a coming New Year. They came as far as 40 kilometer to joint the celebration in the city. People are there during an early hours, as early as 12.00 noon, to *book* a good place. I'm consider lucky, with a 5' 9 ' height no problem to move a round to find a batter position.
The road a long Jalan MALIOBORO were packed, no vehicle permit to enter the area, just people, people and people. Hardly to move your shoulder....hah ha, pickpocket is every where. I placed my wallet and passport inside my Levi's Dangree Jacket ( specially homemade inside pocket with safety buttons ).
