Last time I was there, I was taking some pictures and some officials came to me and said it is forbidden to take pictures (maybe they thought I'm a journalist cause I brought an SLR camera), and that I should leave immediately. I was not in the mood to negotiate so I just took some pictures of me and my friends and leave. But in Indonesia, everything can be negotiated. If you want to take pictures of the phinisis at sunset (which is really beautiful), just talk with the officials, explain that you're not from some media looking for news, and maybe buy them some packs of cigarettes :p. My friend did this and he managed to shoot very beautiful pictures without any interference.
