I have been to Surabaya many times and lived here for awhile. On the way home i would always pass this steak house. It attracted me by its lights and color of the walls. The front was open and you can see right in. Well finally i decided to try it out. Of course i ordered the sirloin steak which was only Rp18,000. It came on a hot plate. I was surprised. The meat was pretty good. The problem was it was drenched in a black pepper sauce and only had a couple vegetables on the plate. Also the difference between this place and an American steak house was they had no potatoes. They were even out of french fries. Could not believe a steak house with no potatoes. Anyway, if you go there which you probably should since it is a cheap and quiet local restaurant, order the steak with no sauce or on the side. I will go back to try something else but the biggest problem is the wait staff. No friendly at all and not in a hurry to please. Probably why is is not as busy as the steak house down the street which i will try soon. It is not air conditioned but if you go around 8pm or later it is cooler out and they do have ceiling fans so it was comfortable. I really like the ambience but hate the staff. go and decide for yourself but the steak was good and cheap.
Favorite Dish: The sirloin steak is the famous dish there and the most expensive but it is cheaper than going to A&W.
Along the road, we came across this lane between Mandiri Bank and Hotel Tunjungan where there are many local stalls that sell a variety of local food... As we do not have time, we were not able to try them out and give out comments...
it's warung style restaurant. With theur famous beef soup with locally spices.
it serves with salty egg and crackers.
it nearby JW marriot hotel, Surabaya, you wont missed it!
Favorite Dish: the rawon itself!
Since this is the only indian restaurant in Surabaya, i cant compare it with others. But u will not regret if u go there. They have really nice food and with a golf range on ur view :). They serve chinesse food also.
Favorite Dish: [sorry for mistype]
Garlic Naan Bread, Palak Mutton, Chicken Vindallo and Dal
The place are not so big but there are an outdoor area where you can watch a full cable TV. I like it especially for watching F1 or GP hehehe... Not so many menu offering so i suggest to buy steak, rib, or seafood grill. The pasta is nice too but i think it`s better the steak. I love at outdoor. It surrounding with trees and you can see swimming pool from there (of course when it`s not rain). The steaks are the best for now. The beef is juicy. Oh yeah, it`s a hot stone steak so it will be keep hot while you eating it.
I think it`s little expensive for australian meat but don`t worry it`s compare with the taste.
Favorite Dish: My favorite, deer steak with mushroom or wine sauce. It`s very delicious. I love the juicy meat. I don`t think there are another steak restaurant sell it. The tenderloin is delicious too.
I think it`s the only delicious korean food in Surabaya. The place is nice. There are a lot of tatami but sometimes you need to book it first. It always crowded. You can get appetizer and fruit dessert for free. And you can also get refill green tea, of course it`s free too. So you just need order main course and some beer or korean beer (if you like).
Favorite Dish: Bulgogi and grill rib. Both of them are soo... delicioussss... I guess all of you must be knowing bulgogi isn`t? It`s enough popular i suppose. The rib will be grilled in front of us. After the rib cooked the waiter will cut it into a piece (it about 10-15 pieces). It`s so deliciousssss......Oh yes, it`s a potion for two person
As we have limited time in Surabaya, we just drop in at Plaza Tunjungan for our lunch... After going around, we ended up in 77 Es Teller for some Indonesian food... We had nasi goreng, mi goreng and soto ayam... The food was fairly tasty... but we feel that the prices are on the high side to Surabaya standard...
This is where Blue_Sky04 Fenny took me for Dinner and for our VT meeeting. This is a really nice restaurant and the prices is not expensive. A Big Thanks Fenny the Food was really Great . They serve local Indonesian Dishes. Its situated in the downtown area close to my hotel Ibis Rajawali.
Favorite Dish: The Nasi Goreng Jawa and the Satay Ayam
Witha touch of art deco ,a splash of wild creativity and a dash of history ,the cafe offers a unique sensory and culinary experience.A wide selection of western and asian flavors are especially prepared to satify even the most discerning of visitors.
Favorite Dish: SUp Bontot ( oxtail sup),es kelapa ( coconut icecream),Avocado Shakes and benana shakes.
The restaurant is located in the Citraland Estate in the west area of Surabaya.
The food served are Indonesian food as well as international food.
It's a nice restaurant because it has an open area which faces the Ciputra Golf course.
Visitors can enjoy life music, too.
Fresh fish, crab, and many others can be chosen before seating at the table. You can also choose how the fish should be cooked.
The place is big and you can choose to seat inside or in an open area.
Lunch and dinner time can be very crowded.
Soto ayam pak sadi, soto gubeng pojok, Ria restaurant (restoran ria), ikan bakar cianjur, the food court at galaxy mall (mal galaxi), lontong mie (there are several) inside pasar atom, ayam goreng pemuda, ayam goreng nyonya suharti, and lots more, just ask the people there.
mentioned above are foods that i consider delicious and more hygienic compared to street vendors, although diarrhea, and food poisoning are still possible.
Favorite Dish: i love 'em all, but here's some useful words when ordering.
soto ayam (indonesian traditional chicken soup), soto means soups (usually beef or chicken soups) in a traditional ways. ayam means chicken, goreng means fried, nasi means rice, mie means noodles, lontong (traditional rice product, the rice are steamed in banana leaf wrap, the end product usually green colored and taste good) sate means satay or kabobs or skewers, sapi means beef, kerupuk = chips, kacang= peanuts, telur = eggs, es = ice, kelapa = coconut, pedas = spicy or hot, sambal = chili sauce, lombok = chilli (just like what u usually found when u eat pho/vietnamese noodles)
there's nothing special about d interior.... but d location is great coz u can easily drop by after hours of shopping in Tunjungan Plaza....
it's a typical Chinese restaurant, but with d best hainan rice (a kind of chicken flavoured rice) in town
Favorite Dish: Try d hainan rice instead of normal one... combine it with d rolled shrimp (udang gulung) .... oh yeah, for d appetizer, don't miss d hisit soup... choose d one with crabmeat or shark fin... rather expensive but worth every penny.....
it's a really small restaurant, if u can call it a restaurant.... although d site isn't comfy, d food makes up for it......... people shouldn't visit surabaya without eating here..... i usually eat it in d morning, for breakfast.... they r also very fast in serving it... very convenient when u'r starving..........
d main menu, of course, is d soto, which is a typical Indonesian soup with all kinds of spices, chicken meat, egg, bean curd, and soun (a kind of very soft noodle)... just put a bit of lime juice in it, mix it with sambal and eat it with krupuk (a kind of indonesian chips)... it's not really solid as food, so it's better if u eat it with rice.......... it is SO GOOD... btw, i'm drooling and feeling hungry just describing it
Favorite Dish: needless to say, d soto itself
There r lots of vendors 2 choose from along d street.... it has pretty relaxed atmosphere... don't be 2 relaxed though coz lots of pickpockets here... be alert at all time, but d food is worth d risk... btw, it's open in d evening......
Favorite Dish: d chicken noodle, naturally..... which is so good!!! take my word for it... don't eat it directly after u arrive in Indonesia though, ur stomach can't handle it....
after d good ol' noodle, i usually end my dinner with d mixed ice... it's a kind of 'smashed' ice with fruits and syrup on it... very typical Indonesia dessert... very refreshing in a warm night
