Bukit Barisan National Park

by jungles

Bukit Barisan is a large but little-known national park in southern Sumatra which does not receive many visitors and thus is not really set up for tourism. To enter the park you first have to get a permit from a small town called Kota Agung. Try not to arrive on a Friday afternoon or evening like we did. By the time we got there the office was closed for the weeked, so we ended up hanging around in Kota Agung for a couple of days with not much to do. It's a fishing village, so the people are used to getting up early, and they woke us up at 6:40am to bring us fried rice for breakfast. That was probably the most exciting thing that happened in Kota Agung, other than seeing a dead rat washed up on the beach.Everyone seemed a bit confused by our presence, as they don't normally receive visitors to the park. Eventually we were able to find someone who spoke English and to communicate what we...

Dancing Dolphins

by apple-melati

To watch the dolphins at the open water, we need to sail for about 30 minutes by Jukung from Kelapa island. We left Kelapa island at around 7pm, each Jukung was loaded by maximum 4 persons. The weather was a bit cloudy, the sun's hiding behind cloud, fortunately there're not big waves so our jukung could flow smoothly, giving me a little comfort since I cannot swim and I wasn't wearing a life jacket. After 30 minutes sailing, when I was just about to ask the Jukung man where's the dolphins: not far from our Jukung, we saw a group of dolphins swimming fast and then disappeared. And wow the next five minutes we were histerical watching many dolphins around our boat swimming aroung and jumping out of the water. Soon, I forgot how I worried about being in the open water without a life jacket. So amazing to see these cute dolphins in their habitat. When the sun's going up and the heat of the...

Blue StarFish

by apple-melati

Starfish is one of my favorite sea creatures, sometimes I wish I could take them home but I know that they should stay in their habitat where they belong. I didnt see many star fish here in Kiluan Bay but there're some very gorgeous blue starfishes. They tried to hide under the dead coral while I touched them with my hand. It's fun watching them move slowly in between the corals.

Bandar Lampung Night view from Bukit Randu

by Imperfect_V

There's a star hotel name Bukit Randu. Located at the hills, so private, and expensive also (ahahaha...) From here, you may enjoy night view of the city. The view of Bandar Lampung city light is very beautiful. You can spend a lot of time here, just viewing a sparking light over the city. Nice!

An Active Volcano-Krakatau Mount

by meiyergani

Mount Krakatau was erupted in 1883, but years by years a Little Krakatau was appear at the Sea Surface in the year or 1927 up to now stick high and become beautiful panorama of an active volcano. To reach anak Krakatau or also known as Rakata Kecil, sailing from a small port called CANTI is more convenient compare if someone take it away from Banten Province. From Canti, it will take 2 hours to Sebuku island, a stop over for an accomodation. Then from Sebuku island one can go to Little Krakatau and it surrounding in about 2 more hours. It would be better if the trip take on April to October, where the Sea is Calm and the wind is not strong

way kambas national park

by ukirsari

as long as i know, way kambas national park is famous for elephant attractions. such as football and circus. to be honest, i feel so sad since it's something not really nice for those beautiful creatures.but whenever we visit this place after back from way kanan national park, we find something different. we hear that circus and football are not the main attraction and purpose [we both know .. many indonesians like these :(]. elephants can be trained to help the foresters and farmers from wild elephants attacks and fire. that's great. and the unforgetable moment, in our visit we can cuddle up and playing with jo, a 1 month old baby elephant. he's so naughty but sweet!
