No Frills: Street Food

If you've a strong consitution and a stronger set of stomach antibiotics, try out the food that all the locals eat - available everywhere!

Two major types of Vendors, as is the case in many parts of the world, are the cart-pushers and the more upmarket cart-pushers who have rented a hole in the wall, from which they cook the food and provide tables.

Cleaner then the standard fare in Jakarta, the food is generally fresh and tasty, albeit spicy if you don't know what you're getting. Just smile, point at the things you find palatable and nod - they won't rip you off, unless you're unlucky!

If you're driving, some streets are quiet enough for you to stop for a little while, order from the window and move along home, although courtesy appreciates getting out on foot.
